Medical Center
Four well-trained registered nurses provide high quality Nursing for students for 24 hours. One of whom will be on duty and may be contacted any time for an emergency situation. The Medical Center team provides health care to students, develops plans in case of chronic illness, detects health problems in their early stages, keeps track of vaccination records, and ensures the school’s environment is safe. Education and counselling of day and boarding students is also availabe as needed, regarding physical health, self-esteem, mental health, personal hygiene, relationships, nutrition, sexual health, in collaboration with the social workers.

Medical Forms
Upon admission to Branksome Hall Asia, every student must present an up-to-date certificate of health (at the beginning of the academic year). The statement should be completed according to the student Medical Form. This form requires a chest X-ray or PPD skin test for Tuberculosis, and a General Examination signed by a physician. The student must also be current in the prescribed immunizations and show evidence of having received them. A photocopy of the immunization record should be included. A truthful and accurate statement as to medical and emotional/mental health is also required in the Student Medical Form.
Medication
Students should not keep or take medicine at school or boarding without the knowledge of the school nurse or school office. If a student must come to school with medicine, such medicine shall be notified and placed in the Medical Center at the start of the school day.

For safe administration of routine medications brought in from home, the Medication Authorization Form must be filled out by parents and sent along with the medication.

Illnesses
In order to prevent other students from being unnecessarily exposed to illness, parents are asked to keep the student home or pick up their child from school as soon as possible under the school nurse’s decision.

Has a fever of 99.5°F (37.5°C) or higher

Has been vomiting, diarrhea

Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as excessive tiredness or lack of appetite, productive coughing, headache, body aches, earache, and severe sore throat.
Children should NOT return to school until fever has gone for 24 hours WITHOUT medication. If your child is ill and unable to attend school, please call the main office or e-mail your child’s teacher and the school nurse on the first day of the illness.
Emergency Information
It is important that we have up-to-date phone numbers for each parent/guardian and the phone number of two other people who can act for you. Any changes in the emergency information as listed on your child's enrollment form should be sent to the Medical center immediately after being changed. 119 will be contacted immediately and an ambulance will transport the student to the hospital. Also nurses communicate with parents/guardians and provide follow-up care.
