IBDP Film

The IB Film course develops students' skills in both interpreting and making film texts, exploring film history, theory, and socio-economic background while building critical abilities that enable appreciation of cultural and historical perspectives. Students don't just learn to create, they learn to think like visual storytellers. While exploring their artistic vision and developing technical filmmaking skills, they simultaneously build sophisticated abilities in analysis and criticism. This dual approach creates well-rounded thinkers who can both produce compelling content and evaluate it with a discerning eye.

Our students' work speaks for itself. Films created in our program have been screened at international festivals and earned recognition with awards in the United States, United Kingdom, and South Korea. This global recognition demonstrates the professional caliber of work our students produce and the doors our program opens.

DP Film is part of Group 6: The Arts and is available at both Standard Level and Higher Level, giving students flexibility to tailor their DP experience to their interests and university goals. Film offers a unique combination of creative and analytical rigor that complements studies across all subject groups. The course consists of projects that evaluate students' understanding of film production, history, theory, and analysis, with huge scope for students to excel in research, creativity, organization, and writing. 

Perhaps most importantly, students are genuinely passionate about this course. The combination of creative challenge, technical skill-building, and collaborative teamwork creates an engaging learning environment where students thrive and discover new aspects of their potential.
