Data Privacy Policy

Branksome Hall Asia undertakes to observe the spirit of privacy laws in all of its data management policies and practices. It is committed to full implementation and compliance with the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) 2016.

Branksome Hall Asia has issued Data Protection Guidelines to its staff to provide guidance on the collection, use, disclosure and processing of personal data of its staff, students, parents, alumni, and prospective students and employees. This is to ensure that they understand the rights and interests of individuals are a priority.

From time to time Branksome Hall Asia will update this Privacy Policy to ensure that it is consistent with our growth, industry trends, and/or changes in the law.
 

Branksome Hall Asia collects personal data through the website, secure portal, application forms, paper-based application forms, admission assessments, surveys, correspondence with student records/admissions officers, and/or other communications (for example, through interactions with Branksome Hall Asia employees).

The types of personal data collected may include, but are not limited to:

• Personal information, such as the name, address, email, phone number, Identity Card Number/Passport number, date of birth, marital status, gender;
• Past and present academic qualifications such as schools attended, courses of study, period of study and academic results;
• Billing information, including the name of the credit/debit cardholder, credit/debit card number, security code and expiry date;
• Medical history;
• Images, including photographs, videos;
• Bank details.

Branksome Hall Asia will not use personal data for any purpose other than the purpose for which the personal data was originally collected. Branksome Hall Asia will collect and use personal data for the following purposes, including, but not limited to: 

• Employment-related purposes;
• Communicate with constituents on an individual basis;
• Statistical analysis;
• Promotional and marketing purposes relating to Branksome Hall Asia;
• All other matters relating to the mission, function or operation of Branksome Hall Asia as may be considered appropriate.

Branksome Hall Asia may disclose personal data collected for the purposes above to the following agencies:

• Any agency that Branksome Hall Asia is compelled or required to do so under law or in response to a request by a government agency;
• Any third-party service or product provider providing services to Branksome Hall Asia or seeking academic references. In either case whether in South Korea or overseas and as Branksome Hall Asia may determine to be necessary or appropriate;

All reasonably practicable steps will be taken to ensure that personal data held by Branksome Hall Asia is accurate, complete and kept up to date. Personal data shall not be retained for longer than is necessary for legal, business or record purposes. Branksome Hall Asia will ensure that when obsolete information is destroyed that it is done so appropriately and securely.

Branksome Hall maintains confidential and secure databases to which only authorized staff have access. All reasonably practicable steps will be taken to ensure that personal data held by Branksome Hall Asia are protected against unauthorized or accidental access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks. Branksome Hall Asia has ensured that clear and robust safeguards are in place to protect personal data, irrespective of the format in which it is recorded.

Personal data will not be transferred to a country or territory outside South Korea unless that country or territory ensures a comparable level of data protection, in accordance with the requirements prescribed under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) 2016.

An individual has the right to make a request to access and/or correct the personal data held about them by Branksome Hall Asia. We require notice to ensure that the appropriate employee is available to review your file with you, and is available to address any concerns you may have. The individual will be notified of the outcome as soon as reasonably practicable.

The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other equivalent privacy laws acknowledge that data protection laws or policies should not prevent you from delivering education or keeping students safe. These laws do, however, require Branksome Hall Asia to be mindful about how we collect and store personal and sensitive information about your staff, faculty, students and their families. We have taken steps to ensure that our online learning platforms comply with the privacy laws in South Korea.
