You’re Never Fully Dressed without a Smile

You’re Never Fully Dressed without a Smile

By Florence Wayas, Service Learning Coordinator

The International Day of Happiness was established by the United Nations in 2013 by former UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon, following advice from UN advisor Jayme Illien, as a “fundamental human right”, which every human being should strive to achieve. The UN Global Goals, which were established in 2015, include three issues that are key to personal happiness and well-being, according to the UN. These goals include: the ending of poverty,  the reduction of inequality and the protection of our planet. We are very proud that so many of our students engage in service projects and initiatives that address these three issues and thereby serve to shape our world by bringing happiness to those affected.

We celebrate our happiness on the 20th of March every year to coincide with the Spring Equinox, a time of new birth, and new opportunities. This year the theme for International Happiness Day is “Happiness for All, Together”, a poignant theme considering that we are all united to fight the coronavirus pandemic and restore peace, prosperity, and happiness to families and communities around the world.

Here at Branksome Hall Asia, we are happy to have a positive impact on our students, as educators. We love to see our students flourish! What makes you happy? We encourage you to try and do a little more of an activity that makes you happy everyday and tell us all about it in our Google Survey - https://forms.gle/u3kDaePbLkhV7v967 . Until then, please enjoy this video we have created to share our happiness with the rest of our BHA family - https://youtu.be/ncfUvxHh7wg
