World Read Aloud Day
By The Library Team
LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day in 2010 as an opportunity for people all around the globe to celebrate the joy of reading aloud, and to advocate for literacy as a fundamental human right that belongs to everyone. Over the last ten years, World Read Aloud Day has evolved into a global movement involving millions of readers, writers, and listeners from communities all across the world. These participants come together to honor the joy and power of reading and sharing stories, and continue expanding the definition and scope of global literacy.
On Wednesday 5th February, Grade 5 students visited the library to share read-alouds with students from JK and JK Prep in a celebration of reading and sharing. The Grade 5 students were very excited to read to their younger buddies and many enjoyed three or four books in different languages. You can see a short video of how our Grade 5 students cared for the JK students, as well as gain access to some fabulous read-alouds recorded by the BHA community and WRAD partner schools in Texas using Flipgrid, please see the BHA Library Website.
