Working in Harmony during Online Learning

Once again, Branksome Hall Asia’s Junior School students continue to exemplify the IB Learner Profile as they navigate online learning. The students are reflective and display attributes of inquirers and thinkers. They ask questions, share their thinking as they let their curiosity guide them. The E-learning's success in the Junior School is attributable to its supportive community of parents working behind the scenes, the students’ positive growth mindset, and the teachers' desire for student success and attention to planning.

Our parents are supportive and provide a quiet learning space for their learners, ensure learning tools are at hand, and are ready to assist when needed. For the students, E-learning provides them with the opportunity to reflect on how best they learn and take pride in their growing confidence and accomplishments. They are impressive in following their daily timetable, engaging in their lessons and transitioning from one class to another.

The teaching staff recognize the importance of a strong foundation and strive to deliver a program that meets each student’s learning needs. Teachers work simultaneously in each homeroom class and focus their attention on differentiating instruction, balancing the amount of teacher-student interaction, while simultaneously deciding how student thinking will be made visible. These educators capitalize on using the break-out room feature on Zoom to review, consolidate and informally assess student progress.

E-learning during this period of educational disruption presents many challenges. At Branksome Hall Asia, the parents, students, and teachers of the Junior School work in harmony to provide enviable online instruction.
