Positive Energy of Clan Council

Clan Council consists of a Clan Prefect, Clan Chieftains, and Deputy Chieftains who are students in Grade 12, 11, and 10 respectively. Clans are a proud Branksome tradition which organize the whole school community, disregarding the grade levels, into 8 groups. Clan Chieftains and Deputy Clan Chieftains are the elected representatives from each of the 8 clans. The main duty of the Clan Council is to organize and run the Middle and Senior School clan events and raise the clan spirit and sense of community within the whole school. Unique to other student councils, the members of each clan council are elected after delivering speeches to the members of the clan. This process allows members to feel honored and responsible, which results in our council being a highly passionate and influential student leadership group.

In the time of COVID-19, we believe clan events have the responsibility to bring smiles to members of the Branksome community. Therefore, this year, our council will work with full effort to create entertaining events in various areas that include the arts, athletics, and academics. We are very much aware of safety regulations and will respect these with our best efforts. Recently we’ve organized a virtual dance competition, inspired by an event from BH Canada: ‘So You Think You Clan Dance’. We will also promote clan spirit to be a more influential part of the Branksome community by creating a physical leaderboard, new banner in the Middle School Pod, and other mini-activities. Lastly, in collaboration with the Athletic Council, we will continue the annual Terry Fox Run event to raise awareness of the value of service action to our students and bring the positive energy of charitable action to the Branksome community.
