News from the Health and Safety Committee

What a lovely second week back at school. It was very nice to see so many smiling faces as our students returned to us. Thank you also to everyone for making arrival and dismissal processes safe. We remain vigilant with regard to health and safety at Branksome Hall Asia as safety is our top priority. To this end, we have developed important safety practices and procedures. With regard to student arrival in the morning, we ask that parents drop off children curbside and that young ones exit on the sidewalk side of vehicles. It is also important to note that Gate 1 closes between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and is also closed on Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. The purpose of these closures is to ensure the safe entry of students and staff through Gate 1 during busy times in the morning.

We also ensure safety for emergency situations by practicing Evacuation (fire), Lockdown (intruder) and Earthquake drills during the course of the year. If you are at school and hear the evacuation alarm, please proceed to the Pathway of Knowledge.

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, several additional procedures have been put in place. While we apologize for the inconvenience, it is necessary to have these processes in place during this time. First, all parents are asked to wear lanyards so that we can know who is on campus at all times. Any visitors that are required on campus must be pre-approved by the administration and temperature checks at Gate 1 and 3 will continue. In addition, any student activities that occur off campus must also be pre-approved by the administration.

Rest assured that we remain in daily contact with KCDC Health Authorities and the Provincial Office of Education and will continue to update our procedures in light of any changing needs and circumstances.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

All the very best,

Mr. Michael Schreider (Deputy Principal)
Dr. Mark Lee (Chair, Health and Safety Committee)
