New Academic Year Kicks Off!

Welcome back to Branksome Hall Asia! It was so very wonderful to see the smiling faces of our students as they came through Gate 1 this week.

I hope you have had a fun and productive summer and are raring to go!

We have been busy over the past weeks refining and focusing our all-school goals for the new academic year. Our first goal involves the advancement of student oracy in English, so that every student can communicate, engage, collaborate, and negotiate with the broader English-speaking world. The second goal is to ensure that learning is connected with real life experiences that inspire students to shape a better world. The first goal is essential to prepare our students to attend prestigious universities where English is the primary language of instruction. To realize our second goal, we will continue to engage students in meaningful interactions with professionals in our community and on the broader global stage. By extending their learning through real world experiences, we are expanding our exceptional IB educational model beyond the walls of our school.

I would also like to announce the exciting news that our IBDP scores have been finalized and now the 2020 average IBDP score is 36.4, the highest in the history of our school! It is so wonderful to report that 28% of our graduates scored 40 points and higher. Once again, well done Class of 2020.  We are so proud of you!

Due to the recent COVID 19 surge on the mainland, in-country travel restrictions might impact some of our families as they make their way to Jeju. We will continue with our parent meetings next week but will divide into smaller groups and ensure distancing with masks and lots of hand sanitizer on offer.  The implementation of campus social distancing, masks, and careful

adherence to our protocols are essential. We must make every effort, especially in the first two weeks when so many of our families have travelled, to ensure the safety of all.
