Making Students' Life Happier and More Purposeful

The Student Life Council aims to improve the quality of programs offered at Branksome Hall Asia. We focus on all aspects of school life and our activities support student voices to make students' life happier and more purposeful. As offering a good welfare system to students is our priority, we believe that communicating with students in need is the most essential job we do.

The Student Life Council has a long history and was founded in 2012, when Branksome Hall Asia was established. Once every week, we discuss any problems or issues raised by Council members or by students and we work to find effective solutions. For example, in the past, students mentioned being cold while in school as, traditionally, kilts only were permitted for uniforms. Since wearing uniforms to school is mandatory in Branksome Hall Asia, we decided and asked the school to offer a pair of trousers as one of the types of uniforms as it would lead for students to have more pleasing daily lives when in school. Now, pants are officially one of the uniform options available to girls in our school. Further, we run a survey to provide good quality and highly satisfactory snacks and act on providing better snacks through analyzing the survey so that the students are always satisfied when eating these food items. Especially in this time of the coronavirus pandemic, our council is trying to help to monitor the number of students present in the school areas.

One of the biggest accomplishments within our council is our hosting of  the annual IB learner profile awards. Inspired by the IB Learner Profile which represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools, the Student Life Council tries to recognize our BHA students by presenting the 'Learner Profile Awards of the Month' in the assembly.
