Join the Marathon of Hope
Terry Fox School Run
By: Ms. Carla Bowles, Athletics Director and Ms. Rachel Briard, MYP English and Humanities / Enrichment C.A.S.E. Coordinator
Branksome Hall Asia is hosting a Terry Fox Run on November 4 and invites parents to participate in this good cause.
Terry Fox's dream was a world without cancer. When he was 18, his right leg was amputated due to cancer. Terry Fox decided that he could make a difference—that one person had the power to have an influence. He ran across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research. His goal was to raise $1 for every Canadian. And so began the Marathon of Hope.
Unfortunately, the cancer spread to his lungs and Terry Fox was forced to stop running 143 days and 5,373 kilometers after he began. He passed away 1 month before his 23rd birthday. Today, people around the globe participate in the Terry Fox Run to continue his legacy.
All parents and students are invited to join us at the Soccer Field on November 4, 2:30 p.m. for Branksome Hall Asia's first Terry Fox Run as we come together to carry forth the cause. Any donations are welcome but not required. All proceeds will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.
