JejuMUN: First Conference of 2019 a Huge Success!

By Rachel Briard, Middle School Humanities, Enrichment Coordinator and Model United Nations Supervisor

On November 22nd and 23rd, students from Branksome Hall Asia joined students from the other schools in the GEC for the 6th annual JejuMUN conference, hosted at KIS. Delegates discussed topics that ranged from how to reduce the barriers for people with disabilities to discussions about stabilizing the political and social unrest in Venezuela.  They even debated historical topics such as the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis (from both the American and USSR perspectives).

Delegates across all committees were successful at sharing and communicating ideas and passing resolutions.

At the end of the conference, Grade 7 BHA student, Hyerim Yoon, was recognized and received the award for Outstanding Delegate in the World Health Organization and BHA Grade 11 student, Leanne Ma, earned the award for Best Chair. All BHA participants can be proud of their achievements throughout the committee and many are excited for the upcoming GECMUN conference in February 2020 to be hosted at Shinhwa World.
