Inaugural Grade 11 TOK Exhibition

On Friday the June 11, Grade 11 students hosted the first ever Branksome Hall Asia Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition. This exhibition is part of a new assessment for TOK. For this assessment, students chose one Knowledge Prompt from a list of 35 provided in the TOK Guide. They then had to find 3 objects that they could apply to the prompt to demonstrate how ‘TOK manifests itself in the real world.’ The main part of the assessment is a 950-word commentary in which students must explain the links between each object and the knowledge prompt. In addition, students are expected to be involved in an exhibition in which they can showcase their work.

We invited the Grade 10 students to be our audience so they could get an idea of what they will have to do this time next year for TOK. The Grade 11’s did an excellent job explaining their exhibitions to the Grade 10 students. To help facilitate discussions, the Grade 10’s were given suggested questions.  These questions included items such as: how an individual student’s objects linked to their chosen prompt, how they had gone about choosing the prompt and objects and so on. The goal was for students to learn about both content and process. We hope both the Grade 10 and 11 girls found the TOK Exhibition to be an interesting and informative experience.
