Grade One Is Exploring Different Biomes!

Grade One had an exciting time when we introduced our new unit of inquiry. The students were thoughtful as they considered how to use materials to build shelters that related to different biomes. Following that experience, Claire wrote a wonderful personal narrative. She followed the writing structure that we use, and added a lot of interesting details.

On Friday, in school, I stood at the classroom door with my teacher. I felt very confused.

First, I saw the door was locked. I felt worried and sad. Then I saw a message from Ms. Frances. It said, “You can’t use this class. Please go to my room to get more information.”

Next, I went downstairs to get more information. When I tried to open the door I saw a map. I saw I had to go to the tennis zone. I went to Ms. Jackie’s team then I was ready to go to the tennis zone. I saw a rope, blankets, and many things.

I thought I was in the desert team. It was not really a desert, but there were less trees and some sand. I peeked under the carpet, then I saw many desert animal pictures. I just grabbed some desert creature pictures.

Then I played a bit with some sand. Then the wind blew. I was busy covering my body with a blanket. I kept going.  We made a shelter. Then we went inside and the door was unlocked! I hope someone never locks the door again!
