Empty Bowls - A Filling Success
Last Friday evening, people lined up in the hallways in the STEM-V at Branksome Hall Asia to eat for a good cause - Empty Bowls 2019.
This event, which is in its fourth year, raised funds to provide free meals to children in need. On the day of this event, the school was abuzz with more than 350 parents, students and faculty. It was so nice to see so many friends and family participate.
This year the school sold 228 bowls that were crafted by students themselves and fired in our kiln here at Branksome Hall Asia. As a result of this successful event, funds amounting to 3,184,000 KRW were raised. This year marks the first year that students led this event through an organized CASE activity, with Jiwon Lee (G12) and Yujin Han (G12) completing most of the work behind the scenes to organize bowl-making activities on weekends.
Proceeds will be donated to a local charity to support food banks and initiatives by "Good Neighbors" in the local community. Much time and effort was spent in ensuring that pots were hot, electricity was provided, and table set up was completed so that the participants could enjoy their time. We thank all of those who joined us for the event and are looking forward to next year.
