Concluding a Year of Resilience, Community, and Success!

By Dr. Cinde Lock

As we come to the end of the 2020-21 academic year, it fills me with pride to reflect on what we have achieved as a learning community. Teachers, staff, students, and families have shown great flexibility and resilience in pursuit of the fulfillment of our mission to challenge and inspire students to love learning and shape a better world.

Many of our milestone events of this year were, to a greater or lesser degree, influenced by Covid-19, but the spirit, purpose and energy shown by our students and staff at these events shone through, undaunted. Indeed, the efforts made to ensure the success of the Winter Production, DP Art Exhibition, PYP Exhibition, Sports Day, Terry Fox Run, Service Fair, and Grade 12 graduation, to name but a few, deserve recognition.

As one community, we are all making our important journey together and we have collectively benefited so much from what we have achieved. All of our graduating students have gained acceptance in their desired universities and 93% are attending the world’s top-100 universities and programs. Further, we have won the ISC International School of the Year award and been recognized as one of the top 1 % IB DP schools worldwide. These achievements are testament to the ways that we strive for excellence and collaborate together as a learning community.

Each of our students have pursued their own interests and explored their strengths. Each of our young leaders has contributed to our community by being a passionate and innovative inquirer and participant in service to the community, literature, arts, sciences, and sports. Our students’ achievements nationally and internationally are too numerous to mention here, and demonstrate the diverse strength of our community.

Our community of learners at Branksome Hall Asia continues to grow. It is anticipated that our school will welcome more than 950 students on campus in August when school reconvenes.  I am so very excited to welcome newcomers to our school and see them join in and grow with their peers.

I thank you for all of the ways that you make a culture of care happen at our exceptional school. We are more than the sum of our parts, and our excellence is forged through the actions and leadership of each of our students, staff, and parents.

Summer break may be a much needed break for some: a chance to refuel. It has been a busy, rewarding and tumultuous year. Now is a time to take a few moments to breathe, celebrate, and reflect on what we have learned throughout the year. See you all in August for the next stage of the journey!
