Books and Food (#Books2eat2020)
By the Branksome Hall Asia Library Team
Food nourishes the body as books nourish the mind. Both books and food have the ability to help us explore new cultures and add flavor to our lives. While looking for ways to encourage our younger readers to think outside ‘the book’, the Branksome Hall Asia Library staff were inspired by the Shanghai American School’s “Books 2 Eat Challenge.” Branksome Hall Asia Junior School families were challenged to create something edible that connects with a book they enjoyed. The May Fun Food challenge was posted on Seesaw and entries came flooding in. Classics like Roald Dahl’s ”The Witches” to popular picture books like “The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors” by Drew Daywalt were featured.
To see more of these incredible, edible creations, take a look at the #books2eat2020 video on the Branksome Hall Asia Library YouTube channel or follow us on Instagram @bha_library. The Middle and Senior school students will get their chance to show their creativity next week. This challenge is quickly becoming a favorite and is a part of the continued emphasis of our theme this year of celebrating (and feeding) “the Mind, Body, and Soul of our community” at the Branksome Hall Asia Library.
