Being a Balanced International Student at Branksome Hall Asia

In Junior School, students learn how to balance Korean and international cultural understandings. Based on the importance of the mother-tongue, Korean language teachers work on instilling basic manners in students as Koreans and promote the ability to enjoy rich Korean culture.

It is important to note that basic manners related to politeness and humility are valued in Korean classes. Teachers use honorific speech with students for the purpose of showing respect to students. Students benefit from positive experiences where they are respected by adults, and these experiences can help students to respect each other in their daily lives. Also, students in Branksome Hall Asia have abundant opportunities to enjoy Korean culture. Korean national holidays also present moments for them to learn the meaning of the holidays and many activities are planned to experience these events such as Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving day), Seol-nal (Korean’s new year’s day), Hangeul day, and Korean memorial day.

Students learn how to dance, sing, read, and write to celebrate those culturally important events, and it helps them to have a strong background for being a balanced Korean in  international society.
