On Monday, January 13, Branksome Hall Asia welcomed a CEO and owner of a community-based zero-waste grocery store Wasteupso, Ms. Kychele Boone. Wasteupso is a store based in Seoul, which aims to help customers save money and save the planet when they go grocery shopping.
Ms. Boone met up with Grade 8 Interdisciplinary unit teams that will spend the next three days learning about plastic waste and working on creating their own business proposals and ideas that can reduce the plastic waste. Ms. Boone talked to the students about the importance of reducing plastic consumption on individual and company level, as well as the steps that individuals can take to reduce their harmful impact on the environment. The students had a chance to look into the problems of running an environmentally friendly business and discussed it from large and small and medium enterprises perspectives.
We hope that a meeting with a young female entrepreneur who runs a social business was an inspiring opportunity for BHA students to learn about the exciting world of business.
