2023-24 Conrad Challenge

2023-24 Conrad Challenge

The Conrad Challenge is a competition aimed at solving real-world problems through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Named after astronaut Pete Conrad, this challenge promotes creativity, teamwork, and innovation. Participants form teams and select a category such as Aerospace & Aviation, Cyber-Technology & Security, Energy & Environment, Health & Nutrition, or Smoke-Free World. Teams then identify a problem within their chosen category, develop an innovative solution, create a business plan, and present their project to a panel of judges. Our current Grade 11 student, Seojin Kim, participated in the following event. Her team, “Food Lock” identified the problem of food insecurity in developing countries and came up with a product that prevents and delays food losses and damages in post-harvest crops. During this project, the lead officer on Food Waste and Loss in the UN FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) commented on her project and shared her project with the WFF (World Food Forum) team. Seojin was the leader of the team “Food Lock '' and she won an innovator award. She was listed in the semi finals with the team “Food Lock” in the energy and environment section.
