2021 Service Fair: Demonstrate and Collaborate!

By Florence Wayas
Service Coordinator

On Saturday, we were overjoyed to celebrate our 2nd BHA Service Fair. Our annual Branksome Hall Asia Service Fair was launched in 2019 to share and celebrate the Service Learning of students around the world who, like our Branksome Hall Asia students, are striving to shape a better world. The demonstration stage of the Service Learning cycle is an important step that enables students to share what they have achieved and what they have learned. Through participation in our Service Fair students are able to receive feedback from NGOs and seek other students to collaborate with, taking their projects to the next level. There is also the possibility of winning funding towards their project.

Our Keynote speaker, Kiko Matthews, spoke to us about how to live life with purpose and gave so many nuggets of wisdom that we can all apply to live a more fulfilling and purposeful life. The poster presentations were judged by NGO leaders, which include: Help Syria, AUSCAM Freedom Project, Gotjawal Trust, Jeju Olle Foundation, Jeju Furey, Kyungpook National University, Habitat for Humanity and the Inter-Korean Cultural Exchange Association. We are so grateful to them for sharing their knowledge and wisdom in the feedback they have given to all the entrants, as well as the amazing work their organisation does.

Our entrants this year came from North London Collegiate School Jeju, Chadwick International School, as well as Branksome Hall Asia and the projects spanned different areas of service from animal rights and environmental issues, sustainability, covid food relief programs, unification in Korea and the development of prosthetic hands. Whew! Such an amazing variety of projects, which highlight the different skills and passions being channelled into the good work.

Our congratulations go to all entrants in the Fair. The future looks really hopeful because of the fantastic work that you are all doing. Keep up the good fight because you are making such a difference!

Our special congratulations go to the winners of each category and our overall winners: Enabling  the Future! The judges were so impressed with your projects and you provoked a lot of discussion.
