The Branksome Hall Asia University Counselors

With the Fall semester underway, the Branksome Hall Asia University Counselors are excited to be continuing conversations with parents and guardians. On September 6, counselors met virtually with Grade 12 parents to discuss university applications and student wellbeing. In this busy semester, family support is more important than ever as students navigate the rigors of the DP program alongside university research and applications.

Key takeaways from the Grade 12 parent meeting include updates on:

  • University competitiveness: Globally, universities are noticing increasing numbers of applicants, and many schools are becoming more competitive. BHA students should schedule meetings with their counselors early in the university process to determine college lists that align with best fits and current admissions trends.

  • University results: Every year, BHA is proud of the exemplary results of BHA students. Recent and past data on university matriculations can be found here: https://www.branksome.asia/who-we-are/our-results

  • BHA university procedures: BHA students must stay organized with both university and BHA deadlines. While counselors can help students plan, it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to know and meet deadlines.

  • Supporting students: Social-emotional counselor Laura Muir led a discussion on the key roles parents play in student wellbeing. BHA students have indicated that they hope their parents will be positive, encouraging mentors during their university application journey.

While parents are always encouraged to reach out to the BHA counselors directly at any time, there are also several further opportunities scheduled to meet with families at each grade level. There will be an opportunity to submit questions in advance before each meeting.

Future meetings include:

  • October 14 (virtual): Grade 11 parents

  • October 28 (virtual): Grade 10 parents

  • November 11 (virtual): Grade 9 parents

  • December 2 (in person): Meeting in Seoul, Grade 9-12 parents (Session times and location will be announced soon)

Take care,
