Reading Bingo Challenge

Branksome Bear Reading Challenge

Grades 6, 7 and 8

October 2018 – February 2019

As a school, we very much value the home language of our children, but, as we are an English-medium school, we also believe in promoting the use of English in and out of school.

In order to encourage our students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 to read widely in English and extend their expertise, we invite your child to take part in our personal Reading Challenge. This challenge is voluntary and is available at different levels. It requires your child to not only read books in English, but also complete an activity for each book in the Reading Challenge booklet.

Certificates will be issued for the completion of different levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold. Students who read 15 books or more and complete all of the activities in the Reading Challenge will be eligible to win a Branksome Bear.

We hope that you will encourage your child to participate – not only to win an award, but also to discover the joy of reading in English. Ms Fountain, our School Librarian, and your child’s English teacher will be happy to offer advice and support in the choosing of suitable books for your child’s level of English.

Good English skills are key to accessing the curriculum at Branksome Hall Asia and ultimately achieving well in the IB Diploma programme.
