Senior Leaders
Greta Keltz - Deputy Head of School
Originally from the United States, Greta is a collaborative and enthusiastic educator with over 25 years in education, including 10 years in international school leadership at IB schools. Her previous international experiences include positions at Lincoln Community School in Ghana (Director of Teaching & Learning, Acting Head of School, and Elementary Principal) as well as the International School of Latvia (Head of Middle School and MYP Coordinator). She has also taught in both the MYP and DP, including MYP Science and Mathematics, DP Biology, and DP Math Studies. Greta holds an M.Ed from the Pennsylvania State University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Leadership, and a B.S. in Secondary Education, Biology and General Science, also from the Pennsylvania State University.
Blair Lee - Head of School
Blair is an international educator from Canada. He is a versatile, dedicated, and student-focused professional with close to 30 years of experience in school administration, 20 of which have been spent working internationally. Throughout his career, he has successfully created supportive learning communities by developing a positive and healthy school culture where students, teachers, and parents work together to help students find success. He continually strives to build his school leadership reputation as an ethical, collaborative, and servant leader. He has worked in IB schools for a total of 15 years. His previous international experience includes positions at the American International School of Kuwait, Mount Zaagham International School (Indonesia), Seoul Foreign School, and Dalian American International School (China).
Patricia Long - Middle School Principal
Pat is a seasoned educator with 30 years of experience working with secondary-age students and the teachers who serve them. Born in Canada, she obtained her teaching and leadership credentials in the UK, where she spent 18 years in pastoral administrative roles before the transition to international education in IB schools in Korea and China. A student-focused administrator, Pat seeks to create optimum learning environments for her charges and their teachers, where the craft of the classroom is supported by the positivity of working relationships and a quest for excellence, improvement and progress. As an international educator, she aims to enhance the role of the school community in creating opportunities for engagement and experiences outside of the classroom.
Adriana Mourgelas - Director of Admissions & Marketing
Adriana Mourgelas is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in admissions and marketing for independent schools. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, she kickstarted her career by successfully launching an international program at Morgan Park Academy, the oldest independent school in Chicagoland.
Adriana's expertise extends to working with the International Baccalaureate program in independent schools, and she's thrilled to continue this work at a top IB school. Her genuine passion lies in helping children find the right educational fit. Adriana enjoys connecting with families to ensure students thrive in their chosen educational paths.
As a mother of two daughters who attended independent schools throughout their childhood, Adriana understands the value of such an education firsthand. Beyond her professional life, she finds joy in meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and sharing her Greek heritage. Adriana's favorite activities include spending time with loved ones, reading historical novels, and exploring new places.
Now, as she embraces the opportunity to learn more about Korea and Jeju-do, Adriana looks forward to contributing to the warm community at Branksome Hall Asia. Her genuine enthusiasm for education and community-building promises a positive impact on the school's environment.
David Miles - Director of Technology
David has been in international education for over 20 years, with leadership roles throughout most of this time. Previously in Colombia, the UK, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and most recently 7 years in Malta (HS Principal, Director of Studies, Director of IT Integration, & acting Head of School), he has taught mathematics within the MYP & the DP and has also been an IB examiner and moderator. Both people & system-focused, he is a lifelong problem-solver who believes that focusing on the deeper, underlying issues is the key to creating profound change. Involved with both curriculum & technology leadership throughout his career, he has always worked to ensure that student experiences are inclusive, caring, and respectful of culture, language, and community. Aware that we do not know all the right answers, he is a believer in challenging students to think big, to challenge their preconceptions, and to develop their leadership skills.
Jeannie Park - Director of Business & Administration
Jeannie is an experienced international school business administrator. She joined Branksome Hall Asia with almost 20 years of experience in both corporate business development and international school administration in the US and Korea. This is her fifth year at Branksome, and she enjoys and prides in being a part of the organization that shapes a better future for all of us.
Peter Row - Junior School Principal
Peter Row is an international educator from Canada. He is a dedicated, caring, and student-centered professional with 20 years of experience in international education. Over this time, Peter has had the privilege of building school cultures focused on student achievement, social-emotional well-being, inquiry, and service. This culture is achieved through a shared vision of education centered on collaboration with students, teachers, and parents. All of which is made possible through a belief in distributive leadership and that we are better when we work together. His previous international experience includes positions at the Dalian American International School (Elementary Principal), and the American International School of Egypt. Peter holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Organization from the University of San Francisco, an Administrative Certificate from Washington State, a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education from the University of the Sunshine Coast, and a B.A. in History from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Drew Alexander -Senior School Principal
With over forty years of experience as an educator, including twenty-five as a leader in IB World Schools, Drew Alexander is the BHA Interim Senior School Principal. He has served in educational leadership roles in Alaska, California, Montenegro, New York City, Moscow, and Cairo. In addition to Head of School and High School Principal, Drew has been a college counselor and English language and literature teacher. Through the years, Drew has worked productively with constituents across diverse cultural, geographic, linguistic and economic outlooks. His experiences clearly demonstrate a deep understanding of, and commitment to, global citizenship.
Joseph Szalay - Director of Teaching and Learning
Joseph Szalay has been working in international education for the last 14 years. Originally from the United States, he began his teaching career in Germany before moving to Egypt and Latvia. As an educational leader, he has spent time looking for ways to build responsive learning environments where students can truly be supported in meeting their potential. Those learning environments are best fostered through rich collaboration which is intentionally designed to include all voices. Although he has taught in a number of curriculum models, he is passionate about the International Baccalaureate programs and believes that they have within them all the necessary elements for a thriving and innovative school. His teaching experience spans Kindergarten through grade 12 and includes Music, Drama, Design, and Theory of Knowledge. He holds a Bachelor's in Music Education from Shorter College, a Master’s in Music from the University of Miami, and a Master’s in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People. Joseph is joined in Korea by his wife Angela, who shares his passion for education and will be teaching in the Lower Junior School, and his two sons Julian and Arian, who are junior adventurers, scientists, creators, and dreamers.
Lindsay Schonbrun - Director of Student Support Services
Originally from the United States, Lindsay joins Branksome Hall Asia from Copenhagen International School, where she served as their Director of Student Support. She brings over 15 years of teaching experience in various settings across Europe, the Middle East, and North America, as well as proficiency in both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and American curricula. In these positions, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering collaborative learning environments and promoting inclusive practices that benefit all students. Lindsay earned her undergraduate degree in Family Studies with an emphasis in Social Work from Kansas State University, her graduate teaching degree from Avila University, her Master's degree in Special Education from Pitt State University, and her Leadership Certificate in Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Kansas.
Whole School
Daeil Kim - Aquatics Coordinator
Daeil swam competitively for 15 years, including club, High School, and University swimming. He also has 15 years of experience teaching and coaching all levels, including infants, children, teenagers, and adults. He completed his Coach Training B.S. from Hanyang University. He has recently completed his teaching license from the US Moreland University. Also, he has experience running swimming club teams, which have participated in domestic and international competitions. He was intensely interested in improving students of all levels and abilities. He started his international school career at BHA as a swimming coach in 2018 and currently takes part in regular classes, CASE programs, and after-school programs.

Kara Anderson - Aquatics Teacher
Kara is a professional swim teacher with over ten years of experience in the field. She also brings two years of expertise in teaching PE and health education, along with five years of experience serving as a boarding Don. Kara earned her Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Master's degree in Education from Moreland University, where she also obtained her teaching license in PHE K-12. Originally from Texas, Kara has called South Korea home for the past five years. She loves to go to the beach, try new foods, and cook at home with her husband. An avid surfer and freediver, she spends much of her free time exploring the waters whenever she gets the chance.
Stephanie Orcino - Swim Intern
Stephanie is an experienced swimming coach. She is a level 2 certified American Swimming Coaches Association. She earned her coaching experience in the Philippines, UAE, and Qatar. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Arts, Physical Education, and Health. Stephanie specializes in developing students to reach their highest potential.
Bobby Reed - Athletics & Activities Director
Bobby is orginally from Huntsville, Ontario, Canada and has settled into Jeju life with his wife, April who is from North Carolina, and their son, Samuel. He joins our community after 9 years at Chadwick International School in Songdo, South Korea. He attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics and a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education. He is very passionate about athletics and the opportunities for experiences and growth development it provides for each student athlete.
Junior School Faculty
Yeojin Ahn - LJ Counsellor
Yeojin joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2021. She is in her nineteenth years of experience in the field of counseling and education. She received her master’s and doctoral degree in Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) in the U.S. She counseled children from K to G12 in the U.S. She worked for State University of New York Korea and various counseling centers as a counselor in Korea. She was an adjunct faculty for Seoul Women’s University for 9 years.
Caroline Aldrich - JS Design Technology
Caroline is from Iowa, USA where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with emphasis in reading, mathematics, and learning technologies. She joined Branksome Hall Asia with experience as a technology integrationist for a school district where she worked with classroom teachers to incorporate robotics, coding, and engineering design into their lessons. Last year, she was a Boarding Don for Shin Saimdang house where she led workshops on digital literacy. She is also part of the team that is creating a Health and Wellbeing website for the whole school to use that will be tailored to their developmental needs. Caroline is very excited to be returning to Branksome Hall Asia!
Kayla Baron - G2
Kayla is a Los Angeles native, who brings more than a decade of experience working with young people, first as a fitness instructor, then as an EFL teacher in Korea, before getting a teaching license and moving to international schools. The past six years have seen Kayla in Albania, China and Korea, teaching PYP, Common Core, and, Early Years Foundation Stage. She has worked with students from 3 to 16 and has found a true passion for inquiry-based education. Kayla is excited to start her second year at Branksome Hall and looks forward to helping create a new generation of well-rounded global citizens.
Yenny Chang - Teacher Intern (G2)
Yenny has been working at Branksome Hall Asia since 2020. She has experience in teaching Math, Science, Social Studies and English in National-Plus (national and IB combined curriculum) school for 5 years and teaching Math in International School for 3 years; in addition to tutoring Math and Science for junior to senior school students for more than 10 years and also supporting students preparing for National Math and Science Olympiad for 2 years.
Yun Jeong Bhu - JS Librarian
Yun Jeong is from Jeju and joined the Branksome Hall Asia community in 2014. She has worked and studied overseas where she completed her Masters degree in Translation and Interpretation. She also holds a Masters in English Education, and Postgraduate Diploma in Information and Library Studies. She has held many roles at BHA and will join us this year as Upper Junior School Librarian. Yun Jeong is closely connected to the local Jeju community and looks forward to building strong relationships between our school, parents, and the broader Jeju community.
Taryn BondClegg - PYP Coordinator
Taryn BondClegg has been an educator for 14 years. The first four years as a classroom teacher at a respected private school in Ontario, Canada and the following 10 years in a variety of teaching and leadership roles at leading IB World Schools around the world. Taryn has taught Grade 2, Grade 4, and Grade 5 and has served as assistant principal, math coach, instructional coach, and Primary Years Coordinator. Her time in Kuwait, Vietnam, and, most recently, Mozambique has challenged her both personally and professionally to continually learn, grow and improve. Taryn originally comes from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, where she earned her three education credentials: a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as a Master of Educator from Nispissing University. Taryn is excited to bring her passion and dedication to helping schools become more humane, child-centered, agency-supportive places to Branksome Hall Asia in her role as Primary Years Program Coordinator.
Victoria Brne - G5
Victoria Brne comes from Melbourne, Australia and has been working in a Year 5 Classroom in a PYP school for the past two and a half years. She brings with her 4 years of primary specialization in a range of settings - primarily with a focus on student wellbeing and literacy development. Victoria holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) from Victoria University in Melbourne - majoring in Student Wellbeing and Food Design and Technologies. Victoria is passionate about student wellbeing and builds a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports students to become confident, caring, and driven global citizens.
Kim Brown - Early Years PE/Swim
Kim is from Canada but studied and obtained her Bachelor's Degree at Tusculum University in the U.S. on a double sports scholarship for Cross Country and Soccer. Since 2015 she has taught English in South Korea at the public schools giving her over 5 years experience teaching English language learners. She believes that education is essential to all students in order to grow and develop. Her passion lies in providing students the proper necessities in order to succeed both in and outside of the classroom.
Brandi Buss - Skating(CASE)
Brandi is from Alberta, Canada. She obtained her degree at the University of Alberta in the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, specializing in biomechanics and sport enhancement. She finished her degree at the Norwegian School of Sports Science in Oslo, Norway. Sports have always been the center of her life, focusing mainly on ice hockey, giving her opportunities to play at the top levels, represent her province and country, and receive both academic and athletic scholarships during her time at the University of Alberta. She is excited to bring her passion for coaching and knowledge of sport to build and develop an inclusive ice skating and ice sport program here at Branksome Hall Asia.
Emily Cinnamon - G5
Emily, a passionate London-born teacher, brings her vibrant teaching style to Branksome Hall. With a BSc in Broadcasting and Multimedia, she trained and taught as a Steiner Teacher in London for four years. She furthered her qualifications by obtaining a PGCE from Roehampton University and taught in primary schools in London for several more years. Dedicated to lifelong learning, Emily pursued a Master's in Education to enhance her teaching expertise. Since 2017, she has been teaching in schools across Korea; Seoul, Geoje, and now Jeju, immersing herself in the rich culture of Korea and Jeju enthusing international mindedness. Emily is deeply committed to empowering her students to become agents of positive change. She channels her passion for preserving the planet into action, nurturing responsible global citizens. With a wealth of experience, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to her students' well-being, Emily is a valued member of the Branksome Hall community, where she continues to inspire and empower.
Suzanne Cormack - G4 / GLC
Suzanne has been with Branksome Hall Asia as a Teacher Intern and as a Residence Don since 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Social Care specializing in Psychological Counseling from the University of South Africa and achieved her International Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. Suzanne has acted as a Grade 3 and 4 homeroom teacher and Grade Level Coordinator during her time in the Junior School.
Kirstyn Cool - JK / GLC
Kirstyn is from Oregon, USA, and has been teaching for eight years. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the College of Charleston where she worked as a teacher’s assistant in an inquiry-based preschool. Prior to joining Branksome Hall Asia, Kirstyn had been a kindergarten teacher at a public charter school in Portland, Oregon where she led curriculum committees and mentored new teachers. During this time, she obtained her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in English to Speakers of Other Languages to help pursue her passion of international teaching. Kirstyn strives to instill a life-long love of learning in each of her students here at Branksome Hall Asia. This is her second year as a Junior Kindergarten teacher at Branksome Hall Asia. This year Kirstyn will be the Grade Level Coordinator for JK/JKP.
Colm Doherty - G1
Colm is an educator from Derry in Ireland. Having started his teaching career 6 years ago in Namyangju, South Korea, he has been in Jeju for the past 2 years and is excited to start a new chapter with Branksome Hall Asia. As well as Korea, Colm’s career path has taken him to Vietnam, Switzerland and Scotland. This diverse range of experiences has informed his current teaching philosophy, which incorporates student-led learning, inquiry, inclusivity and fun. When not at work, Colm loves being outdoors; hiking, cycling, swimming and playing Gaelic football with Inis Jeju. He also loves playing music and attending live music concerts on the island.
Emmy Go -Teacher Intern (G3)
Emmy is an experienced educator with a strong teaching background. She has written a highly regarded book for English language learners to improve their conversation skills. Emmy has taught both English and Korean to students of various ages, from early years to college students and professionals. With a B.A. in English Interpretation and Translation and Korean Education and an M.A. in Teaching Foreign Languages (TESOL), Emmy creates an inclusive and enriching learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Her ultimate goal is to help students succeed in their language journey by providing them with the necessary tools and skills for growth.
Angela Creasy - SK
Angela is a fully qualified elementary teacher with a B.Ed in elementary education and a B.A. in English and Drama from Canada. The moment she received her degrees, she took to teaching overseas. She has had the honor of teaching in many international schools around the world, including Australia, South Korea, Germany, Egypt, and Latvia. Angela has enjoyed teaching and leading lower elementary school teams, focusing mainly on play-based learning and the importance of outdoor education. While the majority of her training and experience has been in early learning, through her time in Latvia, she was also fortunate to teach process-based art to PreK - Grade 5. Angela looks forward to returning to South Korea with her husband and two children, who will also be a part of the Branksome Hall Asia community.
Bronagh Deeny - JK
Bronagh is an Early Years teacher from Derry in Ireland. Her teaching journey began in Namyangju, South Korea back in 2016. Since then, her career has led her to teach in schools in Vietnam, Switzerland, Scotland, and most recently in Jeju. She loves to challenge her students by encouraging them to learn in unique and engaging ways. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, hiking oreums, playing Gaelic football and swimming in the sea. Bronagh is thrilled to be joining Branksome Hall Asia this year and is looking forward to creating a warm and welcoming learning environment for her students.
Andrew Doyle - PE/Skating
Andrew Doyle is an international educator from Toronto, Canada. He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto then continued to York University to receive his Bachelors of Education degree. Andrew had the privilege of playing Ice Hockey throughout his 6 years at University. He has gained a strong understanding of the skills required to be a Student Athlete at the highest level. After achieving his degree he spent some time playing professional hockey in Fayetteville, North Carolina before entering the education field at Maple Leaf Dalian International School in China. Throughout his life he has coached many sports mainly focusing on ice hockey. Hockey and skating are a love that was introduced to Andrew at a very young age and his passion for it has continued to grow through his life. He believes that skating is a life skill that everyone should possess and he looks forward to encouraging and igniting a passion for skating, hockey, and all ice sports within the students at Branksome Hall Asia.
Ben Drury - Lower Junior School Deputy Principal
Ben is originally from Christchurch, New Zealand and this will be his seventh year at Branksome Hall Asia. Prior to that he spent 4 years teaching at Chatsworth International School in Singapore, as well as numerous years in primary education in New Zealand and England. This year he is very excited to take on the role of lower junior school deputy principal and will work tirelessly on building strong community spirit and developing healthy relationships with the students, staff and parents at BHA. He believes in the importance of inquiry learning and helping the students to develop the necessary skills to adapt and grow in our rapidly changing world. Ben holds a Diploma of Primary Teaching from the Christchurch College of Education, as well as a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning degree from the University of Canterbury.
Moni Gustafson - SK / Science Coordinator
Monica earned her state teaching qualification and a Master of Education specializing in the globalization of education before she graduated Loyola University with a double major in Psychology and Modern Languages and Cultures-Spanish. Monica originally began teaching at home in the USA over ten years ago with nonprofits and has taught primary children for over eight years throughout Asia using an inquiry-based approach. Monica joins Branksome Hall Asia from Kyrgyzstan where she taught second grade within the Primary Years Programme while also mentoring teachers in training working alongside at a university. She is enjoying building on her educational focus of cultivating joyful inquiry and instilling a love of learning for students here at Branksome Hall Asia.
Janni Halonen - Teacher Intern (G2)
Janni is from Oulu, Finland, where she is currently finishing her Master's degree in Intercultural Teacher Education. This teacher training degree program focuses on issues of globalization, equality and diversity in education. During her first teacher training practice in an IB school in Finland, she got fascinated by IB education. Inspired by this experience, she also completed a teacher training practice in an IB school in South Korea. She is excited to be joining the junior school as an (Intern) after her graduation.
Jooyeon Han - Korean Language
Jooyeon has been working at Branksome Hall Asia since 2013. She is a qualified IB PYP Korean language teacher with 18 years of experience working in public and international schools. She is working with IB closely as the IB PYP Consultant, School Visit Team Leader and Workshop Leader. She received the highest teacher certification examination score for teacher appointment, and was awarded a citation for enthusiastic teaching by the Superintendent of Education in Rep. of Korea. She has a keen interest in Korean literacy and the special education for the gifted learner.
Mara Hansen - MLL Coordinator
Mara has spent the last decade in Asia teaching students of all ages. She is passionate about working with multilinguals, co-teaching and teaching content and language simultaneously. She enjoys teaching students within the context of the PYP where there are so many authentic contexts for language development. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors and running.
Fernando Hao - UJ Chinese
Fernando Hao came from Inner Mongolia which is located in Northern China. He is a language education professional with over 6 years of experience in Chinese language instruction in Hong Kong. Before joining Branksome Hall Asia, he worked as an IBPYP Chinese Teacher at an authorized PYP school in Hong Kong. Fernando is passionate about Chinese language education, and strives to guide his students to explore the world of Chinese culture. As a risk-taker, he loves sports activities such as hiking, running, and BodyCombat. He would like to explore Jeju together with you.

Marla Judith Green - JS Learning Support
Marla, an accomplished Canadian educator, brings more than fifteen years of teaching experience across diverse age groups. She has demonstrated her leadership abilities in specialized programs and showcases a genuine passion for creating enriching learning environments. Marla's commitment to the community is evident through her involvement in non-profit camps, her adventurous spirit in wilderness trekking, and her dedication to coaching basketball. Currently serving as a Learning Support Teacher at BHA, Marla joined the school following a successful two-year position in Vietnam. She is excited to contribute her expertise, serve the Branksome Hall Asia community, and foster personal and professional growth within the school family.
Amanda Isberg - G2 / GLC
Amanda is originally from Oregon, USA, and she has spent the past 12 years teaching at international schools overseas. Amanda is a licensed elementary educator with a Master of Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching, an inquiry mindset, and a passion for collaborating across subjects. She works hard in her classroom to create a positive and nurturing environment that students are excited to be a part of. Amanda plays an active role as a facilitator and coach to her students, allowing them the agency to inquire into areas and subjects that interest them while focusing on skill development and keeping them grounded in the key concepts.
Heesu Jang - Korean Language
Heesu is a certified elementary school teacher and she has worked in Korean public school for 10 years before joining Branksome Hall Asia. She is passionate about learning through the students and sharing the books with them. Heesu looks forward to meeting and supporting the BHA students to make them cherish themselves and others.
Jalyn Jang - G2
Jalyn is in her seventh year at Branksome Hall Asia. She joins us with 12 years of teaching experience in public, independent and international schools in Canada, New Zealand, and Korea. Jalyn has a keen interest in language development and literacy integration. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Teaching from Waikato University.
Michelle Joh - MLL
Michelle has been a part of the Branksome team since 2020. Before Branksome, she has worked in the New York City school system for 5 years as a Grade 6-7 English teacher. She also has worked with at-risk students of varying age groups in a clinical setting through her Master’s program. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education at New York University and obtained her Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Beryl Johnson - Teacher Librarian (JS)
Beryl has worked as an academic, early years, whole school, and secondary librarian throughout her 19 years in the field of librarianship. A Jamaican national, she comes to Branksome Hall Asia with six years of international school library experience in Qatar and the UAE. In addition to a master of science degree in Information from the University of Michigan, Beryl, a former professional musician, also holds an undergraduate degree in Music, with a jazz studies specialization, and a master of music degree in Ethnomusicology.
Max Johnson - Teacher Intern (G4)
Max is originally from Kentucky, USA, but has spent the last 12 years teaching ESL in South Korea and Vietnam. He's currently finishing his fifth year of teaching in Jeju. Having recently completed his teacher training certification, he's looking forward to integrating his years of student-centered teaching experience into an IB environment.

Elizabeth is from the United States. She grew up in New Jersey. After earning her teaching license, she taught in North Carolina as an elementary homeroom teacher and as a gifted specialist. For the past 6 years she has been a PYP homeroom teacher in Abu Dhabi and Shenzhen, China. Elizabeth is passionate about enrichment and global-mindedness in the classroom. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, scuba diving, and travel.
Sooyun Kim - Teacher Intern (JK)
Sooyun joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2013. Prior to joining Branksome Hall, she spent two years in Early Childhood Education in both the public and private sectors on Jeju Island. She earned a certificate in Early Childhood Education through English as a Second Language from the College of Education at Jeju National University. She has taught English and Computer Science at an elementary school as well as several kindergartens in Jeju.
Manish Kumar - Swimming/PE
Manish is a passionate educator who has worked in India, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea before joining Branksome Hall Asia. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education and loves participating in various sports. Manish firmly believes that staying healthy must be every human's utmost priority, and this can be achieved through playing sports and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. He enjoys providing education through movement and observes students developing intellectually and becoming more creative through their involvement in sports. Manish wishes to grow as a PYP PSPE teacher and become an inspiring educator who makes a difference in the lives of young students, encouraging them to become their best selves.
Joseph Kelly - Math and Science Coach
Joseph is an experienced educator who has taught in various roles in the United Kingdom, where he is from, and Korea. He holds a Masters of Arts in Mathematics Education from the University of Plymouth, and taught mathematics up to secondary school level in the United Kingdom. Joseph has many years of experience teaching students in Korea, both English language, and school subjects in English. He is interested in society and social studies; his bachelor’s degree was in Development Economics at SOAS in The University of London. Outside of the classroom he enjoys sailing, swimming, cycling, and building craft projects.
Jeemin Lee - EA (JK)
Jeemin has an educational background from The United States and the U.K. She has been exposed to a multi-cultural background herself and became a strong believer in the importance of early child education. She has experience teaching English and has worked in HR at BHA, giving her familiarity with the school. She holds a MA in Fine Art and studied Art Therapy for young children from Sook-myung University. She hopes to engage with the children in her class and give her best to make each day special for every child.
Ahyeong Kim - Korean Language
Ahyeong joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2021. She is a certified elementary school teacher and she has taught in the United States, Botswana, and other public and international schools in South Korea. She received her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Jeju National University and Boise State University. She is passionate about her students’ learning and always ready to help Branksome Hall Asia students to achieve their academic and intellectual goals.
Hannah Lewis - G1 / GLC
This is Hannah's second year at Branksome Hall Asia teaching Grade 1. She originally obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology in the United Kingdom, along with her post graduate certificate of education to gain qualified teacher status. Hannah now has over 12 years teaching experience in both the state school system in England and across a variety of international settings. She has taught across all the age phases in elementary school but her interest and expertise lies in the lower junior years. Hannah enjoys collaborating with her students and providing a stimulating learning environment that celebrates the achievements of every individual.
James Long - G1
James comes to Branksome Hall Asia from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan where he was teaching grade 3 and Professional Development Coordinator. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a postgraduate teaching certificate from Moreland University. James has over 8 years of teaching experience in several international postings where he has passionately taught in lower primary a majority of his career. He is passionate about guiding students to develop strong reading lives and positive social relationships.
Marina Lopes - Teacher Intern (G2)
Marina is a licensed teacher from Porto Alegre, Brazil. She has been working with education since the beginning of her undergraduate course, taking positions related to Artistic Gymnastics, research to Middle School students, inclusion TA on Junior school, and teaching 4th Grade in Brazil. While taking her master degree on Global Education Cooperation at Seoul National University, she has worked as a tutor on the English Speaking Lab.
Marla Neely - Early Years Creative Arts
Marla joins Branksome Hall Asia from Chicago, USA, where she has taught music and visual arts for over 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts Education from Chicago State University, a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, and is state-endorsed in English Language Learning (ELL) Education. Marla has an exploratory spirit and enjoys creating an immersive classroom experience filled with inquiry and silliness. Teaching on Jeju Island will be her second international school experience having taught previously in Beijing, China three years ago.
Gail Nelmes - G1
Gail has enjoyed living on Jeju since 2014 - she taught for three years at NLCS, then joined Branksome Hall Asia. She brings approximately 22 years of global teaching experience from Qatar, Turkey, New Zealand, and England. Most of those years have been at PYP schools. Gail has worked with children from 8 months - 18 years but particularly enjoys teaching 6-8 year olds. Gail holds a Teaching Diploma, Bachelor of Education (Waikato University, NZ) and Master of Science (State University of New York).
Reanna Nelson - UJ Counsellor
Reanna's experience as an educator in Korea spans over a decade, encompassing both public and private schools. Currently in her second year at Branksome Hall Asia as a counselor, Reanna is dedicated to nurturing well-rounded students and prioritizing their overall well-being. Last year, she collaborated closely with the MS/SS counseling team to introduce the well-being platform YouHQ. Additionally, Reanna worked alongside the junior school counseling team to strengthen the bond between the school and the parent community. They achieved this by organizing book clubs, workshops, and meetings that fostered a sense of partnership and involvement. Moving forward, Reanna is enthusiastic about continuing her collaboration with the junior school counseling team to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to student growth and development.
Veronica Ponomareva - G1-5 Art
Veronica is a passionate teacher joining Branksome Hall Asia from an IB school in Moscow, Russia. She has been teaching PYP Art to younger students and has developed her art practice through a wide variety of mediums during her time in the UK. Veronica believes in student-led learning, promotes a growth mindset in her students, and strives to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. She is well-versed in working with special education students and spent two years leading one-on-one and small group sessions for sensory integration. Beyond the classroom, Veronica educated teachers and teacher assistants across all divisions to adapt their teaching methods in order to achieve the least restrictive environment for children with sensory needs. She holds a Master of Education in Special Education from Moreland University, a Master of Art from University of Brighton, and a Bachelor of Art in Fine Art and Psychology from University of Worcester. Outside of school, Veronica enjoys skiing, playing guitar, singing, making sculptures out of clay and climbing.
Yaseen Patel - G5
Yaseen, from Johannesburg, South Africa, has been an invaluable member of the Branksome community since 2021. With a Bachelor's degree in Education, focusing on English and Biology, he brings over 4 years of experience. Last year, Yaseen taught as a grade 5 homeroom teacher, showcasing his dedication to nurturing young minds. He has worked with learners of all ages, developing a versatile teaching style. Passionate about Science, Yaseen creates an engaging classroom environment that sparks curiosity and involvement.
Stuart Reddrop - G3
Stu joins us from Cambodia where he has been teaching grade 3 for the last two years. He completed a BSc in Psychology and Physical Education before finishing a PGCE in Primary Education a few years later. Since then, he has spent the last 15 years working in state systems in the UK and New Zealand, as well as international schools in Asia and Central America. He is passionate about student centred learning and enjoys integrating IT into learning experiences.
Sara Ripoll - JS Music
Sara, originally from Spain, joins us after developing her classical music career for more than 15 years. Graduated in Musical Arts and Psychology (Autonomous University of Barcelona), Sara also holds a Master's degree in Education. She has been part of the Irish Co.Clare orchestra, the orchestra of Haute-Bretagne and has actively performed in chamber music ensembles in Barcelona since 2014. Sara has experience teaching in different international schools in Europe and Asia, where she hopes her students will enjoy and learn from music while perfecting their stage and performative skills. Sara brings to Branksome Hall Asia a modern methodology that seeks to make a meaningful contribution to students' lives by merging classical music knowledge with a contemporary perspective on the global music scene and industry.
Sam Roe - SK / GLC
Originally from the United Kingdom, Sam has been fortunate to call Korea his home since 2012. He has ten years of experience in education, and is very excited to be starting his second year at Branksome Hall Asia. He gained his qualified teacher status in Lincolnshire alongside a PGCE from the University of Hull and has taught across the primary phase in the UK. Sam began his career as an English teacher in Korea, where he taught at both public elementary and private high schools. He has been working towards his MA in International Education since 2021, with a focus on primary mathematics teaching and learning.
Flynn Stewart-Franzen - G5 / GLC
Flynn is from Minnesota and has been teaching abroad for about 8 years. He was teaching in Beijing before he came to Korea and has enjoyed the challenge of inquiry-based learning. Before he began teaching internationally, Flynn began his teacher training at Gustavus Adolphus College and then got his Masters in teaching from Saint Scholastica. Flynn is a dedicated educator and loves working with kids. He believes the PYP model is a great way for students to learn creatively and allows them to become more internationally-minded. This will be his third year at Branksome Hall Asia and he is excited for a new challenge in Grade 5.
Hayley Signs - G1
Hayley is an experienced educator from the United States. Hayley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, along with a minor in Child Adult and Family Services. She also holds a K-8 Elementary Art Certification from Iowa State University. Hayley's commitment to education is evident in her pursuit of professional development. She holds a TEFL Degree Certification from the Bridge Education Group, which equips her with the skills and strategies to teach English as a foreign language effectively. She is also currently pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Technologies and a Certificate in Instructional Design from Iowa State University. Hayley is now in her third year at Branksome Hall Asia, and her passion for education and dedication to creating a vibrant and enriching learning environment remains as strong as ever. Beyond her role as an educator, Hayley is a dedicated member of the Branksome Hall Asia community. Heather Song - Literacy Coach
Branksome Hall Asia is Heather’s third overseas experience. She is coming to Branksome Hall Asia from Bangkok, Thailand, where she taught Kindergarten for 6 years at NIST. Prior to that, she taught second grade and EAL at Munich International School. Heather started her career in Texas teaching Pre-Kindergarten and is passionate about play-based learning. She holds a B.S. in Early Childhood & Elementary Education and an M.A. in TESOL.
Cecily Tang - LJ Chinese
Cecily is from Shanghai, China. She is in her fifteenth year of education across diverse age groups. She holds a B.A. in Chinese Literature from Shanghai University and an M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from East China Normal University. She holds Elementary Education Teaching Certification issued by American Board, USA. The year 2023-2024 will be her third year in Branksome Hall Asia. Before joining Branksome Hall Asia., she taught in NLCS Jeju, Shanghai French School, and CIEE Shanghai. She's passionate about PYP Chinese Literature and aims to help Branksome Hall Asia students to learn Chinese very well and achieve their full potential.
Danette Van Der Walt - MLL
Danette was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but grew up in Beijing, China. She started her career as a Grade 2 teacher in a public school in South Africa and then moved to Seoul, Korea where she worked as an EAL coordinator and literacy specialist at an IB school. Danette's goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences through an environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and kindness. She is committed to sharing her passion for literacy and learning at Branksome Hall Asia.
Chardene Vollmer - SK
Chardené is from Springbok, South Africa and graduated with a Bachelor's of Education majoring in Mathematics and Science from the University of Stellenbosch. She has taught a range of primary, senior and middle school students in South Africa, Thailand and South Korea. Since 2018 Chardené has built a strong foundation in her teaching career by creating a positive and enriching learning environment for students. An environment where they can feel confident in their abilities to explore different ways to be successful in their education. She is excited to embark on her third year within the Branksome Hall Asia community.
Daniel Wickner - G3 / GLC
Daniel is an international educator who has spent the past thirteen years serving communities in Spain, South Korea, and Hong Kong. He is especially passionate about building inclusive, equitable, and identity-affirming learning spaces, informed by his multilingual, multicultural, and biracial background. He is excited to learn from his new colleagues and students at Branksome Hall Asia.
Cedar Yang - MLL
Cedar is originally from Minnesota where she obtained both her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian history and Master of Arts in Teaching K-12 ESL. She has worked in education for the past 9 years where she has gained a variety of experiences working with a diverse range of students--from those with learning disabilities to those who are considered SLIFE (students with limited and interrupted formal education). Last year, Cedar started her first year at Branksome Hall Asia as an EAL intern working closely with second grade. She is excited to continue at BHA this upcoming school year as an EAL teacher.
Jay Young - Design Intern
Jay joins us after 16 years living in the UK. A certified kindergarten teacher in Korea, she taught 3 years in Seoul, then moved to the UK to broaden her outlook. Jay holds a Master's degree in Applied Child Psychology from Kingston University London and has various experiences in educational settings and creative activities. She enjoyed studying Fashion Management in University of the Arts London and is passionate about Arts and Crafts.
Jung Ah Yu - Korean Language
Jung ah is a qualified and experienced educator who has taught in public elementary schools for over 16 years in Korea. She got a G1 Elementary Teacher’s Certificate and worked as a homeroom teacher for so many years. She also got a TEE-BET certificate from the Jeju Provincial Office of Education so she served as a consultant for English Education of public schools as well. Since she is really interested in IB curriculum and philosophy she has decided to join Branksome Hall Asia last year. She is passionate about challenging and organizing lessons so that each student can reach their goals.
Yurim Kim - Teacher Intern (G3)
Yurim has extensive experience working with children in mainstream primary schools in London, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Through her experiences, she has developed a passion for helping children overcome learning challenges and believes that every child has the potential to excel. Originally from Seoul, Korea, Yurim is a founding member who joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2012 and is a proud alumna. She pursued her interest in education, completing a BA in Education Studies before obtaining her PGCE Primary from UCL Institute of Education. As an intern at Branksome Hall Asia, Yurim is excited to contribute her knowledge and experience to her alma mater. Drawing on her experiences, she hopes to inspire and empower students to reach their full potential. She is eager to facilitate the personal growth and development of students and looks forward to making a meaningful impact during her time as an intern. Ruthie Irungu - Teacher Intern (G1)
Ruthie is an educator from Nairobi, Kenya, with four years of experience as a Physical Education and Sports Teacher. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Kenyatta University and a Master's in Physical Education from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SEOULTECH). While studying in South Korea, she had the pleasure of teaching in various tuition centers and kindergartens in Seoul as an English Teacher. She is passionate about her young learners wholesome experiences in and out of class. Out of class, she loves playing various sports such as badminton, Gaeilic, swimming, and weight lifting.

Roxanne Amor - Deputy Upper Junior School Principal
Ms. Roxanne Amor, an experienced international school leader from the United States, brings over 25 years of diverse experience to her new role. Her background spans school administration, professional development, instructional coaching, and classroom teaching. In collaborative endeavors, Roxanne has led initiatives fostering vibrant school cultures, transdisciplinary project-based curriculums, social-emotional programs, service learning experiences, and cross-division events. She believes deeply in the transformative potential of education, both for those who receive it and for those who are touched by it. She is committed to student-centered, people-focused, informed, and collaborative approaches to decision-making. Roxanne has served notable tenures at Saigon South International School in Vietnam, The International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and in U.S. public schools. She holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Organization from the University of San Francisco, an Administrative Certificate from Washington State, a Teaching Credential from the State of California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of California, San Diego. Andrew Ashton-G4
Andrew hails from Auckland, New Zealand, and has 12 years of teaching experience, with his most recent positions at international schools in Shanghai. He has taught across the upper junior school grades and served as a year group coordinator in grades 4 and 5. Andrew holds an M.Ed. degree in teaching and learning from Massey University and a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching from the University of Auckland. Andrew also holds a double major in English and Art History and an Honors degree in literature. Andrew is passionate about nurturing children through their learning journey and believes every child has something unique to offer. In his free time, Andrew enjoys running, swimming, photography, and playing music.
Julia Baker - PE Intern
Julia is a PE instructor from the USA with four years of teaching experience in Korea. She has a degree in Kinesiology from San Diego Christian College and completed teacher preparation with Moreland University. She brings expertise in organization having experience planning special camps, activities, and youth events ranging from toddlers to middle school age. She believes that a safe and comfortable learning environment is key for children's development. With her past experiences, she is excited to be a part of an IB educational institution. Julia loves the beach, playing sports such as soccer and volleyball, and exploring the outdoors.
Michael Battishill - Teacher Intern (G4)
Michael is an international educator from the UK who holds a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Reading and a teaching licence from the District of Columbia. Having taught EAL in private academies and public schools in South Korea for the past 13 years he has a great passion for teaching and strives to create a positive classroom envrironment that is inclusive, caring and fun for all his students so that they will gain the most from their education. In his spare time he loves to swim and engage in outdoor persuits llike hiking and cycling.
Nina Bezuidenhout - Teacher Intern (G2)
Nina is from Cape Town, South Africa. She has spent the last six years as an ESL teacher in China and South Korea. Nina has taught in both training centers and public schools. She is passionate about creating a safe and fun learning environment for students to engage in. Nina creates room for creativity and critical thinking in her classroom and encourages her students to apply these skills outside the classroom in their daily interactions. Nina graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a Bachelor of Technology in Clothing Management and a Certificate in Management and Entrepreneurship from Stellenbosch University. In addition, she received her Post Graduate Certificate in Education from The Independent Institute of Education: Varsity College.
Eunsol Cho - Teacher Intern (G2)
Eunsol is honored to continue her journey at Branksome Hall Asia, transitioning from her previous role as a Boarding Don. With 3 years of dedicated service here, she has developed a profound understanding of the community and its values. Eunsol's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Ceramic Art and Design from Seoul National University of Science and Technology. She then went on to complete her teaching certificate at Moreland University in Art Education K-12. Anji Choi - Teacher Intern(G1)
Anji spent her childhood and teenage years in the USA. She began her career as a privae tutor, gaining several years of experience while majoring in TESL. In recent years, she has managed a classroom of young students. Committed to becoming a better educator, she has earned IB certificates for teaching and learning in both PYP and MYP. Anji is dedicated to continuing her professional development to positively influence her students in various ways.
Shaun Curtin - Teacher Intern (G2)
Shaun comes from Cape Town, South Africa. He attended the University of Johannesburg, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management. After a few years of working in various fields associated with his degree, he chose to move to South Korea to teach English as a second language. During this time he realised how much he enjoys education. He subsequently completed a PGCE in Intermediate Phase Education. Shaun believes that a comfortable and engaging environment is paramount for students to be able to attain their educational goals and is very excited and grateful to be part of an institution that models their philosophy around IB and inquiry-based learning. In his free time Shaun enjoys the plethora of outdoor activities that Jeju has to offer.
Robert Nathaniel Dewan - Teacher Intern (G5)
Robert is an experienced ESL instructor from the USA with over nine years of teaching experience in Korea. He brings a wealth of expertise in lesson planning, organizing special camps, activities, and youth events, and has co-led charity initiatives with Children's Homes and special youth events. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a teaching license from Washington D.C.
Sara Djohar - G4
Sara is an internationally experienced teacher from Singapore. She has taught PYP in Iraq (Grade 1) and Saudi Arabia (Grades 3 and 5) for a total of 5 years. Sara holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from The University of Queensland, Australia and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey, USA. As an educator, she believes that building meaningful relationships is the foundation of a successful classroom by first seeking to understand before trying to be understood.
Jenna Durkin - MLL
Jenna is a dedicated international educator with over a decade of experience teaching multilingual learners of all ages in South Korea and the United States. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, is a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) graduate, and has studied other languages, including Korean. Jenna holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wheaton College (Massachusetts), a Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Boston University, PreK-6 and 5-12 Massachusetts teaching certifications in TESOL, and has called Jeju home since 2012.
Mieke Duwe - Learning Support Intern
Mieke is a passionate educator from South Africa with a Bachelor of Education (Foundation Phase) from Nelson Mandela University and over 8 years of experience in ESL and primary education. Her experience has reinforced the importance of differentiation to support students of all abilities thus she is committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes students’ holistic well-being. In her free time, Mieke enjoys playing musical instruments, dancing, cooking, and exploring nature with her family. She is excited to integrate these passions into her teaching to foster a well-rounded learning experience for students.
Alexandra Garcia - Teacher Intern (SK)
Alexandra is originally from California but has been living in South Korea for the past six years. For five of those years, she has been based on Jeju Island, where she has enjoyed walking beautiful trails, relaxing on lovely beaches, and finding the best brunch spots on the island. Alexandra studied Korean Literature and Culture at the University of California, Irvine, and received her teaching license from Moreland University. Last year, she was a Boarding Don, and is now excited to continue her time at BHA as a Teacher Intern in the Lower Junior School.
Jianne Han - JKP
Jianne is an Early Childhood Educator with over 20 years of experience working with various age groups in a variety of roles across 6 different countries. Obtaining her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Child Development, Jianne was trained as a Montessori practitioner. She has delivered a range of international curricula, including the UK EYFS, IPC, PYP(IB), and recently the Reggio Emilia Approach. Jianne’s experience ranges from classroom teacher to head of programme, including coordinating the design, launch and successful delivery of a new daycare at Seoul Foreign School. Jianne is passionate about creating developmentally rich learning environments while fostering an active learning community of students, parents and teachers. She is eager to continue her journey as a lifelong learner at BHA.

Tianna is an ever evolving international educator, from the United States, with a rich and diverse career spanning multiple continents. Sam Hill - Teacher Intern(G1)
Sam is a seasoned international educator from the UK with over 12 years of teaching experience in Korea, covering EAL, music, robotics, and programming. Jiseon Hyun - Korean Language
Jiseon started working as an EAL teacher in a public school in United States. She continued teaching in an international school in Korea as a Korean Language and Social Studies teacher. She also has experience in teaching Korean as a Foreign Language classes. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in both the United States and Korea and a Master’s degree in Educating Multilingual Learners. Hana Kang - Korean Language
Hana joins Branksome Hall Asia from the public school system of Jeju-do, where she served as a PYP coordinator, English teacher, and a homeroom teacher. With over 19 years of experience, she has led IB PYP initiatives, researched tools for Concept-Based Inquiry, and developed personalized learning plans in both Korean and English, significantly enhancing student outcomes. Her dedication to education has been honored with the prestigious Minister of Education Award twice, recognizing her contributions to English education and individualized learning methods. She holds a B.Ed. in elementary and Korean education from Jeju National University of Education, an M.Ed. in English curriculum and instruction from Korea National University of Education, and an IB Educator Certificate from Handong Global University.
Cara Killham - G4
Cara is an experienced international educator. She started her teaching career in the UK and went on to live and work in Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Romania, and now Korea. She holds a Bachelor of Education in English and a Masters in Inclusive Education. Cara specializes in the pastoral care of students and creates caring and fun learning environments.
Yunmi Kim - Skate Intern
Yunmi has extensive experience in skating and coaching as an athlete and coach. As a former member of the Korean National Short Track Speed Skating team, she has a deep understanding of athletic performance. Her academic background in exercise science with advanced degrees including a Master of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Florida and Bachelor’s degrees in Athletic Training and Physical Education complements her practical experience, allowing her to effectively guide students in their physical development.
Penny Lamb - G3
Helene (Penny) is a devoted teacher originally from Knysna, South Africa. She has twenty years of teaching experience, including ten in international schools in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Seoul. Penny holds a four-year Higher Education Diploma and an Honours Bachelor of Education in Inclusive Education from UNISA. Passionate about optimizing each student's learning journey, she nurtures a growth mindset and thinking skills to empower her students to set, reflect on, and attain their personalized learning goals. Penny's classroom culture is one of acceptance and respect, where curiosity is engaged, and confident and collaborative inquiry optimizes academic growth and character development.
Yujeong Lee - Teacher Intern (G1)
Yujeong is originally from Daegu, Korea. She holds Bachelor's degrees in Geography Education and General Social Studies Education from Kyungpook National University. She has taught English to students of various ages in private academies in Korea. In her previous role, she was a Proctor in the Girls' Dormitory at St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju for three years. She strives to create a safe learning environment, foster a love of learning, and ensure student success in various aspects.
Anna Martynova - Teacher Intern (G5)
Anna is originally from Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Moscow Pedagogical State University with a Master’s degree in Pedagogy. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics with honors. Anna studied intensive English courses twice in the UK: in London and Reading. She has been teaching English since 2014. Since 2021, she has joined an international community teaching the PYP curriculum. She likes student-led learning because this educational style makes learning fun by giving them creative freedom and empowering kids to have control over their own learning.

Anna, an international educator originally from Oregon, brings with her sixteen years of teaching experience across various countries including Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, and Korea. Her approach emphasizes teaching the whole child, integrating balance, kindness, and love into her educational philosophy. Anna holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Oregon and a Masters of Teaching from Eastern Oregon University.
Andrew Newton - Teacher Intern (G1)
Andrew is orginially from Dallas,Texas, but he has been working as an ELA teacher in Korea for the past five years at private academies. Andrew graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences and then went on to complete his teaching certificate at Moreland University. He strives to create a classroom environment that encourage students to be curious, independent, and reflective.
DaphneJane Ocran - JS EAL
Daphne-Jane is entering her sixth year as an MLL teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in TESOL Education and a minor in Studio Art from Ohio State University. As a professionally licensed educator and member of her district's curriculum development team, Daphne-Jane is highly skilled in identifying and implementing effective instructional strategies to best suit her students' learning goals and needs. She seeks to help students find personal connections to new content and material. Daphne-Jane is also an artist. She loves to incorporate student voice and creativity in her lessons across many age ranges. In addition to teaching K-5, she tutors middle and high school students in fine art drawing and painting and co-lectured an undergraduate-level writing course at Ohio State, focusing on the needs of international university students. As an avid reader and language learner, Daphne-Jane is an alumna of the prestigious US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS). While in the program, she studied Korean at Chonnam National University and lived full-time with her host family in Gwangju, exploring nearby cities, taking taekwondo, and learning traditional Korean art methods. CLS had a profound impact on Daphne-Jane and she is so excited to return to Korea to teach at Branksome Hall Asia! She is looking forward to connecting with students and their families, learning more about Jeju Island, and exploring the beautiful beaches and nature.
Hyun Bin - Korean Language
Bin has been teaching Korean language and literature in international schools and universities in Korea and China over the past fifteen years, catering to both native speakers and expat students. She studied Korean Language and Literature for her undergraduate studies and earned a Master’s degree in Korean language education at Hanyang University. She has also published several books, including "HOT TOPIK II: Writing."

David Antoniewicz - University Counsellor
David Antoniewicz spent eleven years working in the admission offices of three different U.S. universities before transitioning to lead the college counseling office of an independent, boarding and day school for the last seven years. He guided students and families through the university application process, coached lacrosse, and coordinated the academic advising process. He has served as President of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC) and as Board Director and Affiliate Presidents Council Coordinator for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Susquehanna University. David appreciates being a part of a student's journey to post-secondary education and having a front row seat to the personal growth and academic transformation that students experience through the process.
Carmen Arias - MYP English Language Acquisition
Carmen is a long-time language teacher with years of experience in New York, Ecuador, Taiwan, and China. She was most recently a paraprofessional at the Western Academy of Beijing and a kindergarten teacher at the UWC campus in Changshu, China. She received her teaching certification via the University of Western Florida and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree from National Chengchi University in Taipei City, where she researches indigenous women's movements. Born and raised in the heart of New York City, Carmen is bilingual and brings her love of exploring the world through language and culture to Branksome Hall Asia.
David Baker - MYP Design & DP Computer Science
David has been teaching STEM related subjects at the high school setting for 12 years and is passionate about giving students the tools to pursue a career in engineering or computer science. He has 5 years’ experience teaching both AP CSP and AP Java, as well as 5 years teaching IB Computer Science. He has been teaching engineering for 7 years through the Project Lead the Way curriculum and has been the technology chair at Rockville HS in Maryland for the past 5 years. Despite having an engineering degree, he found his passion in teaching and loves making difficult STEM concepts accessible to all.
Mariah Beaucage - MYP English Language Acquisition
Mariah has been teaching English Learner (EL) students for the past 10 years primarily at the middle school level. She brings experience teaching students learning English as an additional language ranging from beginners to advanced learners. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. She also holds a Masters degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Hannah Baker - Generalist
Hannah is a licensed teacher from Manitoba, Canada. She has obtained her degrees from the University of Winnipeg, specializing in Theatre and Film with a minor in the English Language Arts. She also holds a Canadian Red Seal certificate in hairdressing and has been working in a salon for 8 years. Hannah has a passion for nurturing her student's creativity, and creating a safe space for students to be themselves. She aims to be a strong support for the school's drama production and athletic programs. She enjoys partaking in activities such as reading and creative writing, and has grown up playing hockey, volleyball and softball.
Robin Berting - Service Learning, Community Liaison, CAS Coordinator
Robin started his career as an EAL and Social Studies teacher in Korea and Canada. He then moved to Europe where he worked as Head of Admissions at international schools in Spain, Belgium, and Switzerland. He is especially interested in languages and intercultural understanding. Robin is also a certified and experienced CIS accreditor.
Mauro Brooks - Visual Arts
Mauro has been with us at Branksome Hall Asia for 5 years and has been teaching the IB programs of DP and MYP in International Schools for 25 years. He has taught in Rome, Italy, India and in Malaysia where he served as the Head Department for Visual Art. He holds a Post Graduate Certification in Education in Secondary Art and Design from the University of Brighton and achieved his Bachelor of Arts in Three-Dimensional Design from the Wimbledon School of Art in the U.K.
Danielle Brown - MYP English / Language Acquisition
Danielle joins Branksome Hall from Madison, WI, where she has taught middle school English for the past few years. Prior to that, she taught in Honduras, also teaching middle school English. Danielle holds a Bachelor Degree in Middle Childhood- Early Adolescent Education, Special Education, and a TESOL certificate all from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. She received her Masters in Education focusing on English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education from the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh.
Edward Cabrelli - DP Coordinator
Edward joined from Hong Kong in the 2021-22 academic year, where he was a teacher of Geography, Environmental Systems & Societies, Theory of Knowledge and Individuals & Societies. He was at his previous school for six years in a range of roles including Hong Kong Curriculum Coordinator, Head of Individuals & Societies and Deputy Head of Middle School. This year, in his role as IB Diploma Coordinator at Branksome Hall Asia he is excited to be working with students, parents and teachers to help develop optimal learning environments with exciting and rewarding learning opportunities. As a passionate global citizen Edward is excitedly curious about technological innovation and keen to explore how human activity, growth and development can flourish alongside a healthy sustainable world. Prior to becoming a teacher, Edward spent time in Hong Kong, Sheffield (U.K), Jakarta (Indonesia) and New York (U.S.A.) exploring other interests and he looks forward to sharing these experiences with students. Lisa joins Branksome Hall Asia from Yangon, Myanmar, via Phnom Penh, Cambodia and has over 25 years of experience teaching English language learners from 3 years of age to adults, 18 years internationally. Originally from Australia, Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia, a Graduate Diploma of TESOL, and a Master of Education TESOL from Charles Sturt University. She was previously an IELTS Examiner. Lisa is committed to fostering student literacy and learning independence.
Charlotte Chan - Music
Charlotte is currently in her third year at Branksome Hall Asia after joining us from Hong Kong, where she had the privilege of serving as the Head of Music for IBDP and IB MYP, and also had the opportunity to teach Visual Art. Her educational background includes a degree in Music with a dual major in Film Scoring and Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, as well as a postgraduate diploma in education, majoring in music and minoring in visual art from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. During her spare time, Charlotte engages in composing music for television and films. One of her notable accomplishments in this field was having the chance to contribute to a film that was selected at the Cannes Film Festival. Beyond her musical pursuits, Charlotte finds joy in simple pleasures such as cooking, cherishing the companionship of her beloved dog, and exploring new and favourite destinations around the world. Moreover, she has an interest in learning about Korean culture and customs, which she finds enriching through interactions with our students. Charlotte aims to inspire and support the growth of our students while constantly seeking ways to contribute to their development.
Pei Ching Chen - University Counsellor
Pei-Ching is an experienced university counselor who has worked at an international school in Taiwan. She earned her undergraduate degree in History from Soochow University in Taiwan, a master's degree in Women's Studies from Simon Fraser University in Canada, and a doctoral degree in History from the University of Exeter in the UK. In 2021, she completed the College Counseling Extension Program at the University of California - San Diego. As a historian and gender specialist, Pei-Ching likes to adopt oral history techniques and empathetic guidance to support her students. She is committed to lifelong learning and regularly attends international conferences, listens to the College Essay Guy podcasts, and participates in college information sessions to expand her expertise in college counseling. Outside of work, Pei-Ching enjoys hiking and playing volleyball. She is also an adventure sports enthusiast who recently overcame acrophobia.
Adam Chimienti - MYP Humanities / DP Business Management
Originally from New York, Adam is joining Branksome Hall Asia after over a decade of teaching internationally and with 5 years of experience in the IB program. He most recently taught DP Business Management and MYP Humanities in Bogotá, Colombia. Prior to that, Adam taught DP Geography at both the Western Academy of Beijing and at United World College in Changshu, China where he was also Head of House for grades 10-12. He had also lived between Taiwan and Ecuador for several years teaching History, Geography and International Politics in secondary schools and universities while conducting research on environmental and social issues related to extraction for his doctoral program. Adam has a passion for exploring ways to engage young global citizens and to implement cooperative solutions for sustainable urban environments.
Fiona Collins - Teacher Librarian (MS)
Fiona is an experienced IB librarian, IB Workshop leader and MYP Projects Examiner who has taught in IB schools in Asia and the Middle East since 2006. She joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2019. She is passionate about children's literature, inquiry, lifelong learning and encouraging her students to look at the world around them and make a difference. Having completed her master's in Advanced Teaching (K-8 and Secondary), she has now turned her attention to learning Korean. After 4 years working with PYP, Fiona will be moving to Middle School to support MYP students, as well as helping to lead the school's Duke of Edinburgh International Award program.
Keith Collins - Science
Keith possesses eight years experience teaching MYP Science and is in his fifth year at Branksome Hall Asia. Keith has also taught DP Business Management and Economics in Shanghai and Kuwait. He is also an IB Examiner. As well as being a passionate educator, he also has 25 years experience of international business management. Keith also enjoys coaching soccer and is a qualified leader for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award program.
Matt Dean - Head of Humanities
Matt Dean is presently the Head of Department for Individuals and Societies at Branksome Hall Asia, a role he has held for the last three years. This year marks his 10th anniversary at BHA, where he shares his deep-seated enthusiasm for economics and genuine love for teaching to his students. Along with a 13-year background in instructing SL/HL DP Economics across multiple international schools, Matt Dean also serves as a DP Economics Examiner, contributing to the evaluation and assessment of students' economic knowledge and understanding.
Samuel Diljohn - Science
Samuel is a certified teacher from Ontario Canada who received his Diploma in Education from the University of the West Indies. He joins us from the Glenforest Secondary IBW School, Canada as IB Chemistry, Science Teacher and IB examiner where he worked for the past 14 years. He brings more than 23 years of teaching experience from Trinidad and Canada.
Andrew Doyle - Skating Instructor
Andrew Doyle is an international educator from Toronto, Canada. He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto then continued to York University to receive his Bachelors of Education degree. Andrew had the privilege of playing Ice Hockey throughout his 6 years at University. He has gained a strong understanding of the skills required to be a Student Athlete at the highest level. After achieving his degree he spent some time playing professional hockey in Fayetteville, North Carolina before entering the education field at Maple Leaf Dalian International School in China. Throughout his life he has coached many sports mainly focusing on ice hockey. Hockey and skating are a love that was introduced to Andrew at a very young age and his passion for it has continued to grow through his life. He believes that skating is a life skill that everyone should possess and he looks forward to encouraging and igniting a passion for skating, hockey, and all ice sports within the students at Branksome Hall Asia.
Glen Emslie - MYP Math / Science
Originally from Australia, Glen has been working in Thailand, Japan and Malaysia for the last 7 years. Over his 28 year career, he has taught from Grade 2 to Grade 9, and held multiple leadership positions. Most recently he has been specializing in teaching Middle School Math and Science. As well as having multiple teaching degrees and certificates, Glen is also a qualified (but not practicing!) accountant. His latest endeavor is to complete his Masters in Education (Mathematics). Outside of work, Glen enjoys hiking, playing field hockey, reading, using technology and traveling. He is very excited to be joining the Branksome Hall Asia community and experiencing life on Jeju.
Junyeok Eom - Korean Language / Boys Dance
Junyeok has a Bachelor of Arts in Korean Language and Literature and a Master of Education in Korean Language Education from Jeju National University. He taught Korean Language and Literature and Korean as a Foreign Language at another school in the GEC. In his spare time, Junyeok enjoys B-boying and reading books. Junyeok is inspired by the quote, ‘The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.’ from Carl Rogers. He believes that change will make our students help others and contribute to shape a better world.
Tara Farr - MYP English / Humanities
Tara is from South Carolina, United States and has lived in South Korea for the last 13 years. She has 25 years of Upper Elementary School experience and completed her Education Specialist Degree in Literacy. She holds a Masters in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in History, both from Converse College. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring the island and has recently taken up gardening.
Michael BondClegg - MYP English
Mike has been working internationally at IB schools for over a decade, in both teaching and leadership roles. He is passionate about the intersection between wellbeing and education and believes in fostering learner flourishing through a holistic approach to education. Mike has taught MYP Mathematics, Language and Literature and Media Arts, along with DP Language and Literature and Film. Most recently, Mike served as the MYP Coordinator and Secondary School Vice Principal at the American International School of Mozambique. In addition to his teaching credentials, Mike is also a certified holistic lifestyle coach and looks forward to bringing his experience in cultivating emotional, physical and academic wellbeing to Branksome Hall Asia.
Charlotte Hamilton - Social Counsellor
Charlotte Hamilton is an experienced Counsellor who has worked in the UK as a trauma therapist, and more recently within the international school sector in Thailand. She provides a safe, confidential, and culturally responsive space for students to work through any challenges they may face. Charlotte is passionate about mental health and in particular in helping to facilitate the fostering of greater self-esteem, confidence and resilience within young people to help them thrive in life.
Aidan Hammond - Head of Design Technology
Aidan has been teaching Design Technology and Visual Art for over two decades, at international schools and universities in Korea. He is an IB Workshop Leader and passionate about curriculum development, interdisciplinary learning, and developing critical and creative thinking skills for solving design opportunities. He holds a BFA in Visual arts from NSCAD University, a Master in Applied Linguistics from USQ, and B.Ed from OISE, University of Toronto. He comes to us from Branksome Hall Canada, where he taught MYP Art and Design.
Fernando Hao - Chinese Language
Fernando Hao came from Inner Mongolia which is located in Northern China. He is a language education professional with over 6 years of experience in Chinese language instruction in Hong Kong. Before joining Branksome Hall Asia, he worked as an IBPYP Chinese Teacher at an authorized PYP school in Hong Kong. Fernando is passionate about Chinese language education, and strives to guide his students to explore the world of Chinese culture. As a risk-taker, he loves sports activities such as hiking, running, and BodyCombat. He would like to explore Jeju together with you.
Mikaela Hayes - Dance / G6 GLC (Girls)
Mikaela has been teaching at Branksome Hall Asia since 2021. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University in Dance, with an emphasis in education, composition, and performance. She received her graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, and has additional certifications in English as a Second Language, and Special Education. She has performed across North America and Europe, and has appeared before the Queen of Denmark for a performance. She has extensive dance experience in various styles (Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, African, Hip-Hop) and is passionate about dance not only as a form of self-expression, but as an art form that can hold immense power by communicating messages regardless of language.
Jason Hearn - Science / G8 GLC
Jason has been teaching IB Physics and Chemistry for more than 15 years and served as Head of Chemistry at NLCS Jeju. He is an IB Examiner in Chemistry and taught Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology at the Ermitage International School of France. Jason holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Nottingham, England and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Sussex. Jason is passionate about interdisciplinary learning in and out of the classroom. Living abroad for 25 years, Jason is bilingual (in French) and enjoys finding out about different cultures whenever he can. He has actively run the Duke of Edinburgh for 10 years. Jason also enjoys playing music, cycling long distances, and holds a divemaster certification.
Kayla Human - MYP/DP English and TOK
Kayla has been teaching both Psychology and English Language and Literature for the past 9 years at both university and senior school level. She has experience teaching in South Africa and internationally. Kayla is passionate about the intersection between literature and psychology, and has a particular interest in how both these subjects can be used to improve and safeguard the mental and emotional well-being of all learners. She is a firm believer that literature has the power to change the world; after all communication, connection, expression and a need to be understood are what we live for.
Evelyn Hwang - Math
Evelyn is a passionate international educator hailing from Toronto, Canada. With extensive teaching experience in China, Canada, and South Korea, as well as volunteering endeavors in Cuba, she has cultivated a deep appreciation for diverse educational environments. Evelyn's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University, Canada. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University, specializing in digital age learning and educational technology. Complementing her qualifications, Evelyn has earned her IB DP Educator Certificate in Mathematics from the University of Toronto. Drawing upon her expertise, she is committed to guiding students and nurturing their growth mindset through dedicated mentoring.

Hanna has Korean teaching experience for both native speakers and expat students; not only the language itself but also the culture behind it. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Literature and achieved her Master of Arts degree in Teaching Korean Language and Literature for secondary students.
Eunbee Jung - Korean Language
Eunbee is an experienced educator who taught Korean Language and Literature in private school and international school for more than 8 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Korean Language Education from Pusan National University and she is in the middle of completing a Master's degree in Korean Language Education at Busan National University of Education. She has a Secondary School Teaching Certification in Korean Language which is qualified by the Korean government. She is passionate about literature and education and is looking forward to guiding our students in achieving their goals for happy life and academic success.
Hyoseon Kang - Korean History
Hyoseon has been teaching Korean History and Korea Geography since 2012 at Branksome Hall Asia. Hyoseon was the former social studies teacher at Seoul Global High School in Seoul, Korea. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies and Geography from Jeju National university and her Master of Arts from Seoul National University, Master of Arts from Seoul National University and Doctor of Philosophy from Jeju National University, with a research focus on IB MYP.
David Kelly - Head of Visual and Performing Arts / Service Learning Coordinator
David's teaching experience spans over forty years in K-12 schools, university lecturing and private studio based mentorships in Australia and South-East Asia. He concurrently maintains his Visual Art practice which has included international representation, residencies and exhibitions for over thirty years. His previous international school position was Deputy Principal, Jerudong International School, Brunei Darussalam.
James Kim - English
James has been teaching Literature and Writing in Korea since 2012. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from UC Berkeley, Master of Education in Teaching and Curriculum Design from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Doctorate in Education from Johns Hopkins University School of Education, with a research focus on targeted writing instruction for Korean ELLs.
Ju-Hee Kim - Math
Ju-Hee Kim is from South Korea. She is a certified secondary school mathematics teacher in Korea. Ju-Hee has been an educator for over 15 years as a secondary school math teacher in Korea, the Philippines, and China. She became an IB educator in 2012 and is currently a DP Math bilingual examiner. She loves to share her passion for mathematics with students and to support them on their path of inquiring exploration. Ju-Hee and her happy dog Daramie are excited to be a part of the Branksome Hall Asia community.

Yu Kyung Kim is originally from Seoul, South Korea. She studied many years in England and the United States of America. As a Korean with significant cross-cultural life and educational experiences, Yu Kyung is passionate about international education and helping students shape and build their own identity.
Alex Krempely - MYP Humanities / DP History
Alex has been at Branksome Hall Asia since 2022, teaching DP Geography, DP History, and MYP Individuals and Societies. With over a decade of teaching experience, he has also taught at schools in the United States, China, and Spain. Alex utilizes his Social Studies, English language learning, and theatre background to create powerful learning experiences for students through hands-on activities and project-based learning. He also coaches the Branksome Hall Asia cross country team and leads a circus arts after-school program. Alex holds a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, where he received educational licensure in Social Studies (6-12) and ELL (K-12). In 2022, he graduated from the University of Lincoln, Nebraska, with a master's degree in Education Administration. He is dedicated to building positive learning environments where students feel both challenged and supported to achieve their academic goals.

Sheryl is an experienced international educator who has taught in the United States (Minnesota), Uzbekistan, China and Laos. She has been a business educator for 26 years, which includes 12 years of experience with the MYP and DP IB programs. Sheryl serves as an Examiner for IB Business and Management (9 years). Prior to her teaching experience, she worked in sales and marketing for Procter and Gamble Distributing Company. Sheryl is passionate about connecting business management concepts to the current international business environment.

Daniel is an experienced international educator who has taught in the United States (Minnesota), Uzbekistan, China and Laos. He has been a Language Arts teacher for over 30 years, which includes 12 years of experience with the MYP and DP IB programs. Ming Lau - MYP Design & Visual Art
Ming has been an educator for 8 years. She focuses on designing curriculum for STEAM education and Social-Emotional learning. She develops 21st century skills in young learners through project-based, inquiry and experiential learning and promotes inclusive classrooms for students’ diverse learning and emotional needs. She recently moved from Kaohsiung, Taiwan where she supported the faculty as the subject chair of the MYP design department. She is passionate about creating a safe and playful learning environment that promotes creative thinking and growth-mindset where students can develop reliance when overcoming challenges.
Hamin Lee - Music / G7 GLC (Girls)
Hamin is joining the Middle School this year as the Middle School Music teacher. She has spent the last two years teaching music and directing the JS musical production and orchestras at BHA. Prior to Branksome Hall Asia, Hamin has spent three years teaching at the Leysin American School in Switzerland, where she taught general music, integrated arts, and academic skills classes. She has co-directed the school musical productions, organized the winter and spring concerts, and acted as a boarding parent for Grade 10 and 11 girls. She received her Bachelor's in Music Education concentration in voice and her Master's in Music Pedagogy concentration in performance from New York University. She attended and graduated from the Lawrenceville School, a preparatory boarding high school in New Jersey.
Jeehyun Lee - Korean Language
Jeehyun rejoined our community in 2015 to continue to teach Korean language and literature. She holds a master’s degree in Language and Literacies Education, and her bachelor's degrees are in Linguistics, Korean Language Education, and History. Her interests lie in second language education and Korean studies.
Suran Lee - Math
Suran is a certified middle/high school math teacher from Canada. Her 12 years of teaching experience, spanning various educational settings including public schools, private schools, and online education, has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the learning needs of students. Her approach to teaching math is characterized by her passion for creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages her students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Suran's strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development drives her eagerness to collaborate with the Branksome Hall Asia team and provide the highest quality education.
Morgan Murphy - Senior School Deputy Principal
Morgan has held a range of teaching and leadership roles during her nine years at Branksome Hall Asia, and is delighted to be serving this year as Middle School Deputy Principal. Through her previous positions as Head of Pastoral Programming, Grade Level Coordinator, Experiential Learning Coordinator, Humanities Teacher and Volleyball Coach, she has honed her skills in managing students, faculty and programming. An experienced MYP Humanities teacher, Morgan is passionate about working with students to develop their own sense of agency, and in fostering exemplary relationships between teachers and the young people they serve through extra-curricular learning opportunities, EAL instruction, innovative Advisory programs, and restorative practices. In her free time, you can find her teaching yoga, working in her garden, and hiking with her dogs.
Evan Loveless - MYP English / Humanities
Evan brings experience from a wide variety of diverse educational environments. He has spent the last 15 years living, working, and studying in the beautiful nations of South Korea and Japan. During this time, he has developed a love for East Asian cultures and languages. Prior to joining Branksome Hall Asia, he spent three years lecturing at Cheju Halla University. Evan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Science, Arts & Technology, Montserrat and a Master’s Degree in Education Research from Moreland University. He is licensed to teach middle and high school social studies as well as English as a second language. He is passionate about Individuals and Societies in the IB Middle Years Program and, through it, hopes to help children learn about the world and themselves so that they may eventually become competent, responsible and independent young adults who will be a true credit to themselves, to their families, to their communities, and to the world. Evan looks forward to working closely with colleagues, students, and parents while utilizing his knowledge of Korean culture and language to build bridges.
Kseniya Maksimava - Design Technology
Kseniya is an accomplished professional with a strong focus on education, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. With over a decade of experience in the field, she holds a Masters in Educational Technology from Kyung Hee University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Derby. Kseniya's expertise extends beyond traditional education as she previously worked in IT and startups, organizing international entrepreneurship and blockchain events. She has also been involved in various educational projects across Europe, honing her skills as a youth trainer. With her diverse background and unwavering commitment to leveraging technology in education, Kseniya brings a unique perspective to the Design team.
Alex McGreevy - Computer Science
Alex joins us having taught ICT and Computing in London for 15 years, including 10 years experience in an all girls boarding environment. Alex has been Head of Department for Computing for 11 years across two schools. Alex earned his Teaching PostGraduate and Masters degree in Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education in London, UK. Alex spent one year teaching English at a small school on Jeju Island back in 2002, and the experience inspired him to follow a career in education after that.
Olivia Moon - Korean History / G10 GLC
Olivia joins us from BC Canada Collegiate where she taught grade 7, 8 Social Studies and grade 11 Economics. She did her practicum at Panorama Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Yonsei University and Korean teaching certificate from the Minister of Education in Korea. She holds BC Canada teacher certificate from University of British Columbia and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, NJ, USA.
Mervyn Newhook - PE / Health
Mervyn was the Head of Physical education and Grade Level Coordinator as well as a founding faculty member at Branksome. He is a qualified IB PYP, MYP, and DP educator having worked in international education for over 25 years in Korea and Hong Kong. Mervyn has a keen interest in curriculum development, pastoral care, and athletic performance. Education is holistic in nature and Mervyn brings this philosophy to his relationship with students on and off the court.
Trina Paguinto - MYP Humanities / DP Business Management
Trina has been an international educator for more than 10 years, teaching in Indonesia, Japan and South Korea, and has taken on various roles and responsibilities along the way. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from Assumption College and is currently completing her Master in ASEAN Studies.
Katherine Holmes - PE / Health / Swim
Katherine worked in the fitness industry for 18 years as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer before returning to school to earn her degrees and teaching credential. She taught for 6 years in the U.S. state of California before becoming an international educator. She spent 2 years in Saudi Arabia and 4 years in Casablanca, Morocco. More than anything, Katherine is interested in creating a learning environment where all students feel welcomed and safe. It is her contention that movement, fun, and games are foundational for lifelong health and happiness.
Garrett Richardson - MYP&DP Humanities / DP Economics
Garrett is entering his second year at Branksome Hall Asia, having joined from St. Mary's School in Wuhan, China where he served as the Campus Dean and lead teacher for both AP Physics and AP Economics for the St. Mary's School System. Garrett is entering his 8th year as a teacher and has taught Economics, Physics, General Science, Math, Civics, SAT, and English in his time as an educator. His family background is strong in the teaching field as his father, grandfather, and uncle were all teachers and principals of schools. He has experience as an engineering expert for a prominent law firm before teaching and has taught in his home state of Florida and in China. Garrett brings a well informed and passionate teaching methodology to the classroom and fosters an inclusive atmosphere that gets the best from his students. Garrett will be graduating from a masters program for Applied Economics in September 2023 and earned dual bachelor's degrees in Economics and Interdisciplinary Studies (Physics and Mathematics).
John Palmasano - Design Technology / G9 GLC
John has been teaching internationally since 2010 and has been working in IB schools since 2017. Previously, he taught MYP Design and IS at an international boarding school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Prior to transitioning into education he worked in the Information Technology and Digital Marketing industries. John holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania and has a passion for creating real world meaning in project based learning.
Athena Pichay - Senior School Pastoral Programming Coordinator
In her more than 25 years of experience in education, Athena has been an administrative and program coordinator, curriculum design coordinator, Head of Department, teacher trainer, writer and editor of textbooks. She earned her Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics TEFL/ TESL at California State University. Athena also studied for her Postgraduate Certificate in Linguistics and Language Acquisition at Macquarie University in Sydney. She has taught at international schools in the Philippines, Indonesia, Guam, China and Korea. Since joining BHA in 2020, Athena has served as GLC for grades 8, 11 and 12. This year, she will take on the role as the Senior School Pastoral Programming Coordinator.
Tristan Roddick - MYP Humanities / DP Geography & Environmental System
Tristan has been an international IB teacher for 9 years, and most recently taught in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as an MYP Individuals and Societies and Design teacher, as well a DP Geography teacher and Head of Department for the Individuals and Societies team. Outside of the classroom, Tristan is an enthusiastic speech and debate coach, and is even lucky enough to be a TEDx presenter! He is excited to look for opportunities to continue to develop speechcraft in his students and self at Branksome Hall Asia. Tristan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Mount Allison University, a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University, and a Masters of Education in Administration from St Francis Xavier University.
Victoria Sanchez - Visual Arts
Victoria joins us from Chile and has worked in education for over 30 years teaching in Middle school, High school and university. Recently she comes from the International School Nido de Aguilas in Santiago - Chile where she taught High School Visual Arts, Spanish as a second language and EAL and also served in varied leadership roles such as Head of Department, Arts Council advisor and MUN advisor. She is an experienced educator who has 20 years of experience teaching DP Visual Arts. She also served as a University lecturer in Latin American Art history She has a Fine Arts and Education degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Victoria is looking forward to exploring Korea and learning about the culture, customs, traditions, history and beliefs. She believes in empowering Branksome Hall Asia students through the arts by providing an enriching, inspirational and creative learning environment.
David Sanders - English / TOK
David has taught at Branksome Hall Asia since 2022 joining us from Jeju National University, where he was a Visiting Professor in the English Language and Literature Department for 5 years focusing on course work in academic writing, public speaking, and sociolinguistics. Prior to moving to Jeju, David worked for Panamá Bilingüe as a teacher educator at Southeastern Louisiana University. He holds a B.A. in English Literature and a M.A. in English Language and Literacy from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Jill Roddick - MYP Science / DP BIology
Jill has been an international IB teacher for 9 years, and most recently taught as an MYP Science/DP Biology teacher at Tashkent International School in Uzbekistan. In addition to her role as a teacher, Jill was a Grade Level Coordinator, which helped to tie in her passion for supporting individual student needs. Ian Sexton - Maths / G6&7 GLC (Boys)
Ian has taught Mathematics at Branksome Hall Asia since 2017, serving as Head of Department for the last 5 years. For the 2023 - 2024 academic year he will be Grade Level Coordinator for Grades 6 and 7 boys. Prior to coming to Branksome, Ian was Head of Mathematics at NLCS Jeju, and before this he was a secondary high school teacher at state schools in the UK for 10 years. Ian attained a masters degree with honours in Engineering and Management from the University of Exeter and also holds a diploma in Jazz Guitar Performance from the London College of Music.
Yujin Shin - Korean Language
Yujin has taught PYP, MYP, and DP Korean Language and Literature for 10 years in IB international school in Korea. She is also an IB workshop leader. She has a BA in Korean Language and Literature from the University of Jeonbuk and an MA in Korean Language and Literature from the University of SookMyung. Yujin is qualified by the Korean government as a middle and high school teacher. She has been working at Branksome Hall Asia since 2020.
Joseph Shulist - English / G12 GLC
Joseph has been teaching internationally for 14 years. In addition to his work as an English Language and Literature teacher, he has shared his knowledge and expertise in various leadership roles including as an instructional coach, department head, and currently as the Grade Level Coordinator for Grade 12 at Branksome Hall Asia. Joseph received his B.A. and B.Ed. degrees from the University of Ottawa and holds a Masters degree in International Education Administration from Endicott College in Massachusetts.
David Song - Head of Mathematics
David started teaching mathematics in Texas where he taught everything from Algebra to AP Calculus BC. For the past 10 years, he taught MYP/DP mathematics internationally in Munich and most recently in Bangkok. He holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Paula Swartz - MYP Coordinator
Paula has been teaching since 1992 in the US, South Korea, Austria, Indonesia and Germany. She has taught in the MYP/DP and AP, and held leadership roles including Curriculum Director, Director of Summer School, Head of Department, and Principal. Previously she served as IB Coordinator at Chadwick International in Korea and Amadeus International in Vienna. She holds masters degrees from Yale University, an M.Ed. from Bridgewater State University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati and recently completed the Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School.
Kate Soper - Drama
Kate is originally from the UK where she trained in Drama with a specialism in Theatre Design. She has been teaching Drama and Music in both the UK and Asia for 13 years, as Head of Performing Arts, Academic Dean, and most recently as Head of Senior Drama at Dulwich College (Singapore). She has taught a wide range of curricula from around the world and is passionate about nurturing and developing a love for Performing Arts in staff and students, both on and off stage. Kate enjoys all things musical theater and tech, and outside of school she loves travel and dogs!
Alex Tsarev - Math
Alex joined us from Sungkyunkwan University. He has over a decade of experience in education and leadership, specializing in teaching Mathematics. Dr. Tsarev also possesses a solid foundation in research, having published over two dozen articles in the field of modern algebra and its applications. Commitment to student flourishing and success is at the core of his approach to education.
Marion Van Engelen - Teacher Librarian (SS) / EE Coordinator
Marion van Engelen has worked in seven international schools on three different continents. She is passionate about helping to develop the necessary critical thinking skills in young people so they are ready to navigate our modern world, and instilling a life-long love of reading is another focus point in her work. These two together will help to develop well-informed, caring and engaged global citizens. Marion loves to connect with nature, and thrives on long-distance hikes, and loves her personal yoga practice and teaching yoga.
Ritchilda Vergara - DP Biology / ESS
Ritchilda hails from the Philippines and originally pursued a degree in biology to become a medical doctor. By accident, she discovered her love for teaching and has been passionate about teaching science for the last 16 years with 12 years abroad namely USA, Morocco, Russia, and China. For three years, as a foreign exchange teacher in the USA, Ritchilda had performed extremely well and had brought her students to new heights. Because of this experience, she had grown tremendously as a teacher and as an individual. She has taught a wide range of curricula and different science subjects in middle school and high school particularly the IB programme. Her inspiration for teaching comes from her favorite scientist, Albert Einstein, who said "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge". Outside of work, Ritchilda enjoys traveling, trying out various cuisines, learning culture, and meeting people. Ritchilda joins Branksome Hall Asia after spending a year back home pursuing more education. She has a B.S. in Biology from Batangas State University, a Post-graduate Certificate in Secondary Education from the University of Batangas, and she is a currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People.
Kaitlyn Waller - University Counsellor
Kaitlyn has been with Branksome Hall Asia since 2022. Previously, she worked as a scholarship coordinator for incoming international students at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She has worked in international education for a decade, including work as a study abroad advisor in Paris, France and as a university counselor in Hangzhou, China. She holds a B.A. in French from Grinnell College, a Master of French Studies and International Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a M.A. in French literature from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She is also a licensed English Language Arts teacher.
Ben Wylie - Science (Biology)
Ben is an IB MYP Science and DP Biology teacher who has been working in IB schools for the past 15 years. He has international experience in China, Malaysia and most recently Saudi Arabia. He earned his Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph and his Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa. He is excited to be joining the talented team at Branksome Hall Asia.
Weifei (Faye) Yang - Chinese Language
Faye is an expert Chinese language and literature teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience. Prior to joining Branksome Hall Asia, Faye taught students ranging from Prep to Year 12 in Australia, China, Singapore and Malaysia. Faye also served as a lecturer in language teaching methodology at the University of Melbourne. Faye receives her B.A. from China, her Graduate Diploma in Education and her Master of Education from Australia. Faye’s to-be-completed Ph.D. research focuses on Chinese Literature Education.
Jay McKenzie - Performing Arts
British teacher Jay has taught in the UK, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia, before joining the staff at BHA in February 2024. She studied at Bretton Hall College of the arts, before training as a teacher at the University of Leicester, both in the UK. She brings both educational and professional performance experience to her role here and is in Jeju with her husband and daughter. Besides teaching, Jay is also a published author and looks forward to bringing that expertise to her teaching practice and CASE activities this year.

Jessica Beagle - Humanities Intern
Jessica is from London, UK and has over 7 years experience in teaching locally within the UK and Internationally. She holds a PGCE in secondary Geography from the University of reading which has enabled her to teach Geography across both Middle and Upper School year groups. In her previous role she was head of IGCSE Geography, and so aims to provide a classroom environment full of passion, excitement, empathy and global awareness, allowing for student success both academically and personally. She believes individuals and societies is a vital subject as it helps students understand human behaviour, global issues, and society by combining different fields. It develops critical thinking, ethical awareness, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for various careers.
Luisa Bermisa - Math/Science Intern
Luisa is a licensed dentist with nine years of experience specializing in endodontics. She joined Branksome Hall Asia in 2012, where she has dedicated nearly 12 years to leveraging her expertise in the lab. Luisa holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from University of Sunderland, which enhances her capacity to educate and support the academic growth of her students. She is passionate in science and education and is excited to join the BHA community in this new role.
Meg Biddle - Performing Arts Intern
Meg is joining us from the United Kingdom, after completing her BA Dance Degree at De Montfort University and PGCE in Secondary School, specialising in Dance at the West Midlands Consortium. Meg has trained in an eclectic range of dance styles of which she enjoys fusing and combining with her everyday teachings. Meg believes that Dance creates opportunities for pupils to build and develop transferable skills that play a vital role in pupil progressions.
Camile Dionne West - Swim Intern
Camile Dionne-West is from Toronto, Canada. She has been working in an international school setting for six years and in Aquatics for over 24 years. She has held all aquatics positions in the City of Toronto and still works for them for fun when back in Canada for the summer. She was also the Aquatics lead for 4 years at an international school in Vietnam. Outside of aquatics, Camile holds an Education degree with Junior/intermediate/senior teachables in Science and Math, as well as working as ELL / LRT support. She is trained as a geologist and mineral engineer and will take any opportunity to look at and investigate the geology of wherever she is. When not at school, she loves scuba diving, kayaking, and all things aquatic, as well as trekking and exploring the geology of an area, especially caves and volcanoes.
Anna Gittoes - PE Intern
Anna joins Branksome Hall Asia from the United Kingdom where she studied Sports, Coaching and Physical Education at Oxford Brookes Univeristy before completing her Teaching Certificate at The University of Worcester. Anna’s experiences working within schools in the UK and as an Outdoor Adventure Activity coach in Canada has enhanced her knowledge across a range of sports and physical activities. Anna is passionate about creating an enjoyable and inclusive classroom where students can grow on an academic and personal level through Physical Education.
Miwa Gyoba - MYP Mathematics
Miwa Gyoba is originally from British Columbia, Canada. After graduating from the University of Victoria, she has been fortunate to have taught abroad in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Egypt, Australia, and most recently China before moving to Jeju. While living abroad, she earned a graduate diploma in education from the University of Wollongong in Australia, as well as a Master's degree in international education with a focus on IB from the University of Melbourne, also in Australia. She believes in each learner being unique and using multiple strategies when challenging students during their inquiry journey. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and traveling. Miwa is excited to be joining the Branksome Hall Asia team alongside her husband and daughter.
Pete Killham - MYP Individuals and Societies/ DP Geography
Pete is Canadian and has held a range of teaching and leadership roles at schools in Romania, the Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, and Canada. He has over 20 years of experience as an IB teacher with a focus on DP Geography, Environmental Systems and Societies, and Theory of Knowledge. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a teaching certificate from Durham University. Pete enjoys getting his students out of the classroom and hopes he will have many opportunities to explore Jeju with students at Branksome Hall Asia.
Jieun Kim Middle School/Senior School Social Counsellor
Jieun is an experienced international educator from South Korea with professional experience in Germany and Korea. She completed her counseling internship at BHA during the 2022-2023 academic year and worked as a counselor at a neighboring international school in Jeju. Jieun is excited to return to BHA and continue her work with both new and former students. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Seattle University, a Master's degree in Outdoor and Experiential Learning from Cumbria University, and a Master's degree in Counseling from The College of New Jersey.
Kelvin Lamb - MYP Design
Kelvin is a lifelong learner originally from Knysna, South Africa. He has nine years of experience teaching in international schools, two years in Malaysia, three in the Philippines, and four in Seoul. Kelvin holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Education, a Master of Science with a major in Education from Atlantic International University, and a Master of Education in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People. He embraces Vygotky’s philosophy that children grow into the intellectual lives of those surrounding them and is passionate about developing his students’ critical thinking in MYP Design, equipping lifelong informed and ethical decision-making and problem-solving
Minhee Lee - MYP/DP Korean Language and Literature Teacher
Minhee has taught Korean Language and Literature for over 11 years at an international school in Korea. She believes that education is the key to encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning, and she loves literature as a first step in building understanding and empathy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Korean Language and Literature and an IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning (DP).
Cailen McNair - MYP Phe Teacher
Cailen, an experienced educator and coach originally from Oregon, has accumulated eighteen years of experience in education, with twelve of those years spent overseas in countries such as Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, and Korea. He is deeply passionate about Physical and Health Education (PHE), athletics, and guiding students towards more balanced lives. Cailen's educational background includes a Masters in Athletic Administration and Coaching, a Masters in Education, and a Bachelors in Health Promotion and Fitness Management.
Sarah Melrose - MYP Mathematics Teacher
Sarah is a dedicated international educator from Virginia, USA, where she earned her Bachelor'sd in Mathematics with minors in Biology and Chemistry. Her professional journey began in Jinju, South Korea, where she taught English before exploring South Asia. In Hanoi, Vietnam, Sarah immersed herself in Science education, fostering a strong passion for interdisciplinary learning. Her most recent role teaching middle school Math in Incheon, South Korea, further grew her dedication to nurturing students' academic growth and curiosity. Sarah is committed to fostering a growth mindset, inspiring her students to embrace challenges and strive for continuous improvement.
Pam Mochama MYP English Language and Literature Teacher
Pamela is a devoted educator who hails from Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Education- English & Literature from Africa Nazarene University. She has worked as a teacher in both public and private schools in Kenya, Burundi, and Serbia over the course of the past seven years. Pamela's commitment to education and her passion for literature continue to drive her mission of making a positive impact in the lives of her students.
Lydia Okutoroseck Deputy Middle School Principal
Lydia is a lifelong learner from New York in the United States. Originally from Nigeria, she brings more than 26 years of experience as an educator in Kuwait, Senegal, India, and various U.S. cities. Most recently, she served as a Middle School Head in Upstate New York and believes in amplifying student voices while cultivating learning-centered environments for all. She holds a Bachelors from Mount Holyoke College, a Masters from the University of Arizona, and an M.Ed in school leadership from the College of New Jersey.
Madonna Ramirez - Middle School (MYP) PHE
Madonna is an experienced PYP/ MYP PE Teacher. She has taught in the Philippines, the Middle East, and Vietnam. She holds a Bachelor in Sports Science, a Master of Arts in Education majoring in Early Childhood Education from Philippine Women's University, and a Master's degree in Education majoring in Physical Education Curriculum (Academic Requirements completed) from Bulacan State University. Madonna specializes in sports education and building positive relationships with students and the community.
Seunghun Song - Design Intern
Seunghun is from South Korea and studied physics at Seoul National University. He moved to Jeju in 2011 and worked as a design technician at BHA for three years after working at another school in GEC. He enjoys encouraging students to try, make mistakes, and solve problems. He is excited to have more opportunities for interaction with students as a teacher.
Mahri Swan - MS/SS Social Counsellor
Mahri begins her 11th year as a school counselor in international schools. She is a nationally board-certified counselor in the US. She has a passion for supporting students from international schools, having a shared background as an alumna of the American School in Japan. She has worked in China, Peru, and Saudi Arabia. Mahri and her family are excited to start at BHA, where her husband will be joining as an English teacher and her son will be starting in JK-Prep. Liz Hong - Boarding / Teacher Don
Liz (Jihee) Hong joins Branksome Hall Asia from Toronto, Canada, where she completed her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Toronto. Before joining Branksome Hall Asia, she worked as a marketing and events coordinator at Hart House, University of Toronto. Liz also spent the past five years working part-time as an ESL tutor to pursue her passion for education. As one of the first alumni of Branksome Hall Asia, Liz understands the challenges that students face throughout their IB journey and the importance of "home away from home" to overcome those obstacles. Liz is looking forward to sharing her experiences with students of Branksome Hall Asia and supporting their further journey.
Iris Arias - Boarding / Teacher Don
Originally from Mexico, Iris worked for the Mexican government in Customs and Foreign Trade for six years, and then became certified as a Spanish teacher, teaching Spanish in Mexico and taking courses to become a Spanish exam examiner. In addition to that, she is currently studying for her master's degree in Aviation Management in Korea. Having taught children and adults for 4 years individually or in groups, Iris is very passionate about languages and teaching.
Stephanie Boedecker - Boarding / Teacher Don
Stephanie began her career in Education 10 years ago as a high school English teacher with the EPIK program in the (very) small town of Buksam, South Korea. She has since spent 5 years in the classroom, both public and private in South Korea and held various short-term, voluntary positions in countries such as Taiwan, Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia. Interested in relationship building and the mentoring of young adults, Stephanie spent a year as a Team Leader with AmeriCorps NCCC where she was responsible for the management, supervision and mentorship of a team of 10 young adults while traveling across the United States completing community service projects. Most recently Stephanie returned to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to complete a Masters of Education degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education while simultaneously serving as program manager in the Center for Community Service at Marquette University. Stephanie has a passion for helping students navigate and discover their academic and personal strengths and is excited to learn, explore and grow with the students of Branksome Hall Asia.
Pradakshina Lakhanpal - Boarding / Teacher Don
Originally from Delhi, India, Pradakshina has lived and studied in other countries such as China, France and Switzerland. Having been a student of the IB program from middle school until graduating with an IB diploma in high school, Pradakshina is keenly aware of the many hurdles students can face in this rigorous program. With her academic background in history, international relations and politics, and her professional experience in tutoring high school students in essay writing for college applications, Pradakshina hopes to utilize her experiences to support and encourage students at Branksome Hall Asia to succeed in all their endeavors.
Sekho Khusoh - Boarding / Teacher Don
Sekholu grew up in the north east of Nagaland, India. She is experienced as a supervisor in a boarding school India, as well as barista and teaching the children in various churches as a Sunday school teacher working with middle and high school students from various backgrounds, teaching ethics and social sciences on a weekly basis.
Merissa Naidoo - Boarding / Teacher Don
Merissa Naidoo is from sunny South Africa. Before joining Branksome Hall Asia, she held the position of Quality Manager at the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Research Centre. Merissa holds a Masters degree in plant biotechnology and is passionate about science and learning about the world around us. She has previous experience teaching ESL in South Korea and has previously spent a year on Jeju Island. She looks forward to her time at Branksome Hall Asia, to share her flare for science with the students and to guide and expand their educational journey.
Ryuha Nam - Boarding / Teacher Don
Ryuha is originally from Korea but graduated university in Beppu, Japan. She speaks Korean and Japanese very fluently. Ryuha has worked in fashion-related fields such as Japanese clothing trade and sales. She also likes sports and she was active in the badminton club in middle and high school, and joined a bowling club for three years in college.
Karen Lee - Boarding / Teacher Don
Karen is from Los Angeles, California and was working in residential mental health before she decided to join Branksome Hall Asia as a Boarding Don. She has experience working in mental health, in physical therapy, and in athletic training. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Seattle Pacific University.
Kerry Norris - Head of Boarding /Head of Shinsaimdang House
Kerry Norris is a second-career educator with a passion for global education. For the past eight years, she has taught primary and middle school students in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada. Her international boarding experience includes a commitment to holistic and inclusive education that transcends the classroom. Working with ESL students from diverse backgrounds in international settings is Kerry's driving force.
Lianne Quinones - Boarding / Teacher Don
Lianne is from the Philippines and will be joining Branksome Hall Asia after 5 years of teaching in Myanmar as an Art and Design Teacher for primary and secondary students. She was responsible for developing each student’s interest and the ability for creative expression in visual terms and using skills and techniques of artistic expression. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education, Major in Music, Art, Physical Education and Health, and recently graduated from her Master’s Degree with the same Major subjects. She believes that her enthusiasm, positive attitude, and hands-on experience will make her an excellent Boarding Don. She is excited to help shape young minds and make a difference in the lives of the kids at Branksome Hall Asia.

Stephen Baker - Head of Seondeok House
Stephen is originally from the UK and has been in education for twenty years. He joins us from an international school in Bangkok where he was a teacher of English language and literature. Stephen previously lived and worked in Jeju for seven years as a boarding housemaster. Stephen is married to Nicola and they have three children and three grandchildren.
Sean Finaughty - Boarding / Teacher Don
Sean has been based in Korea for the past four years as an ESL teacher. He is from Pretoria, South Africa and obtained his degree in Sport Science from the University of Pretoria. Over the past ten years Sean has been involved in various educational settings and served in different roles. He worked as a youth strength and conditioning specialist and physical education teacher for high school students before serving as the Director of (field) Hockey and High Performance Manager. Sean is passionate about holistic education and aims to help students thrive in the class, on the fields and in the boading house. Outside of school, Sean can be found enjoying the many wonderful outdoor activities in Jeju.
Steffany Finaughty - Boarding / Teacher Don
Steffany is originally from Pretoria, South Africa, and has spent the past four years working as an ESL teacher in Korea. Her experience in teaching English as a second language has been a significant part of her professional journey. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science from the University of South Africa. She is pursuing a PGCE to further her education career, focusing on advancing her qualifications as an English teacher.
Steffany has a deep passion for reading and enjoys engaging in creative activities such as crocheting, providing her with a fulfilling and expressive outlet outside her professional commitments.
Gracesohhyun In - Head of Sherborne House
Grace is originally from Ireland with Korean heritage. For the past eight years, she has been dedicated to pastoral care within the international school setting for eight yeas. Her experience includes five years in the boarding house at Branksome Hall Asia as an assistant head of Senior school Boarding house and Middle School Boarding House. Prior to her current role in Jeju, Grace served as an international school counselor, drawing on her counseling background in Seoul. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan, along with a Graduate Certificate in Counseling from Edith Cowan University in Australia.
Emma Jackson - Boarding / Teacher Don
Emma is an enthusiastic and compassionate education practitioner from South Africa. She has 8 years of experience in education settings in roles such as core teacher, Head of Academics, curriculum consultant and learning deisgner, contributing significantly to student well-being and academic success. She holds a Masters in Education (M.Ed.) in Children’s Literature and Literacies from the University of Glasgow, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Literature from Rhodes University. Additionally, she possesses TESOL certification and has just completed her Diploma in Play Therapy. Emma specializes in creating environments where students thrive both academically and emotionally. In her spare time, Emma enjoys singing, playing ukulele, and being in nature.
Marta Mentesana - Boarding / Teacher Don
Marta is from the United States where she worked as an American Sign Language teacher for the past seven years. In 2017 she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in American Sign language with a focus in Education from Lamar University. All through out Marta's schooling she held leadership postiions in verious clubs and organizations. Marta's other passions include traveling, hiking, crochetting and singing.
Larissa Santana - Boarding / Teacher Don
Larissa is originally from Brazil and has attended high school at UWC Thailand. She holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Education from the United States. Larissa has spent the last two years teaching English as a foreign language and as a writing tutor. Outside of professional life, Larissa enjoys dancing, traditional crafts, cinema, and coffee.
Sylvia Yang - Boarding / Teacher Don
Sylvia is originally from South Korea and was raised in Australia before completing her post-secondary studies in Canada. A proud alumna of Branksome Hall Asia, Class of 2018, she pursued her passion for education at the University of Toronto, graduating with High Honours in a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Human Geography and minoring in History and Education. Recently, she completed her Master of Teaching (Intermediate/Senior) with a focus on Geography and History from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Sylvia’s educational philosophy centers on fostering an environment where students can lead balanced lifestyles. Outside of her professional life, she is passionate about running, reading, and crocheting.
