FAQ

Q: How do students do laundry?

A: Student drop off items before school in a laundry bag on 1st floor. Staff will clean the laundry and it'll be ready for pick up after school. If you are in Grade 9 to Grade 12, you will be taught how to use the machines and you can do your own laundry in the evenings or on the weekends.

Q: Is laundry detergent provided?

A: Yes.

Q: How do I request leave for my daughter?

A: There are two types of leave: Weekend Leave and Holiday Leave

For weekend leave, the parents must email the Head of House, using the designated form, by 22:00 pm on Tuesday to request leave for the weekend.

For Holiday Leave, parents must use the designated form and email the Family Don two weeks in advance. Parents are responsible for booking their own flights. Bookings at the beginning of holiday should be after 16:30. On return, Boarding opens at 15:00 and students should arrive between 15:00 - 18:00. Buses are provided from the airport and BHA from 15:00 - 18:00. For vacation leave, Teacher Dons will accompany students to and from the airport.

Please note that students should only request weekend leave approximately one time per month unless there are extraordinary circumstances.

Q: How are roommates chosen?

A: Roommate selection is based on multiple factors; age, available space, balance between the Middle School Houses, Family allocation and Buddy selection. We do not recommend a change in roommate after the student has moved in.

Q: Should my daughter bring her own bedding?

A: We recommend that you use the bedding provided by the school. We provide each student with a fitted sheet, mattress pad, duvet & duvet cover. Students have the option to bring their own bedding, but please be aware that they will have to wash it themselves.

The bedding provided by school is washed on a rotation in each House and during the December and July school holidays.

A pillow case is provided, but we ask each student to bring their own pillow.

Q: What is the policy regarding electronics?

A: Students are allowed to bring electronics for personal and school use. We suggest that you have a laptop and a phone. Tablets are acceptable, but usually not used much for academics. Each night, student submit their electronics to a secure room at a specific time. Electronics are submitted between 21:00 and 22:15, depending on the grade level. Students have access to their electronics in the morning before school.

Q: Can my child bring medication to Boarding?

A: Medication must be kept in the nurses clinic, not in the student’s room. It’s recommended that students don’t bring their own medication, but if they need specific medication, it must be kept in the nurse’s clinic for the safety of all Boarding students.

Q: What are the fees for Boarding?

A: You can find more information on the fees here.
